Neef help to decide between the relic super heavy tank and the Acastus Knight Porphyron

Hi people. So, as a player, I usually play necrons and Sw. Now I wanted to add a LoW to my SW for an upcoming campaign. However, I never really played any LOW model. After reading on 1d4chan and looking at their stats, I hesitate between the Falchion and the porphyron. The falchion seemed to be the ibvious choice to play against tank and monster heavy list, however its cost in points make me consider the porphyron. Is there someone who has any experience with these models and could recommend one ?

Considering current SM LoW pricing, they are kinda meh at best. For falchion you can get like almost 3 IG LoW's...consider which ones will do more damage and live more

Saying that, I own falchion and it's beautiful model! (but I use it in 30k 8th with aa bit different pricing, so it rocks for around 860pts)

quote/
Falchion has 8 lascannons,3 Heavy Bolters. 2 Shadowswords have 4 Lascannons, 12 Heavy Bolters, 2 HKM, 2 Heavy Stubbers and of course 52 wounds combined vs 26.

You can take Super heavy detachment and take an anti infantry baneblade variant which would put you at ~1500 points and ungodly 78 wounds and you would still have ~5/600 points for infantry. If you dont want an extra super heavy,I dont have my BRB with me but I know you can pay 1CP for any unit that doesnt fit in a detachment I dont remember if that works on super heavies though.

Either way the whole point is that 6d3 volcano shots at BS4 is better than 2D6 at BS3, and still not worth that extra 600 point over a standard shadowsword/quote

Re:Neef help to decide between the relic super heavy tank and the Acastus Knight Porphyron

When it comes to Lords of War from Forge World, go with Rule of Cool. None of the LoW's from Forge World are balanced for points by any stretch of the imagination. Or I should say, they cover the entire spectrum from useless to OP on the balance spectrum. They are (usually) large, intricately detailed, center peice models for your army.

I'd say use the one you can get the most out of. The Acastus Knight Porphyrion does not have the Space Marine or <chapter> key words. That will limit what you can do with it when playing Space Wolves. The Falchion has the Space Marine and <Chapter> keyword. I'm not sure if you can use <Chapter> with Space Wolves though- there are some weird FAQ and Errata about certain Space Marines armies (like Space Wolves) and the <Chapter> keyword. I'd say if the Falchion can be a Space Wolf model, then the Falchion would be the model to take.

I own a Fellblade for 30K and it's a thing of beauty to me. I've never used it in 40K though so can't comment on how effective it is in that game. I have seen and faced a Acastus Knight Porphyrion in 40K, and the thing is just awesome on the table. Pictures do not do the model justice. Fighting against it... unless you make a list to destroy it, you'll never destroy it. It is 100% beast mode.
