How have armies changed since 8th began and the adjustments in Codexes, Ch. Apprv., and Supplements?

Just curious how the armies have changed since the Indexes, Codexes, Chapter Approved, and Supplements.

Like if I had a graph for how competitive the Ork army was Index Orks started off strong, but lost competitiveness slowly overtime until their Codex in which case it jumped up again with the Loota spam. But then the FAQ after the Codex knocked it down a bit. But now I think it's in the top half of armies.

What do you all think?

Obvious one: Space marines went from zero to hero with the Supplements. The new Space Marine codex by itself balances nicely with a lot of other armies, but add in the Supplements and you end up with the mess we are in now. My interim suggestion would be to ban the Space Marine Supplements from tournaments and other competitive games; again, the new codex is solid by itself.

How have armies changed since 8th began and the adjustments in Codexes, Ch. Apprv., and Supplements?

As an average chart of "relative power over time" you would see an initial similar starting position from indexes that quickly splays outwards with the first impressions. Almost every army has an overall downward trend from these initial positions. Every single army gets a bump upwards whenever its codex or supplement gets released. A few exceptions would exist where an army with no change suddenly gets a small uptick because a meta-shift occurs that puts some build of there's into a better position. An example of this would be Orks, who saw an obvious bump after the release of their codex, then down-wards trend, and then kind of came back again due to the Soup'd Up Shokka finding a better spot in an anti-Knight meta when the Ynnari faded.

Biggest changes:
#1 - Space Marine Codex Version 2 + Supplements + Psychic Awakening; meteoric rise.

#2 - Ynnari White Dwarf; Big crash.

#3 - Imperial Knights; Very low, big rise, jockey with Chaos, then plunge.
