Candy red knight with some black question.

I want to paint my knight Tamiya X-52 candy red but i dont want it to have one panel color.
Has anyone tried combining different colors with it, especially Tamiya X-1 black.
I doubt that regular black will look good with glossy red.

For reference ive linked another users candy red knight:

https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/701997.page

Flat Black can look good with Gloss Red, it just depends on application (ie, where it's applied) but if you want to go with a gloss like candy red then gloss black will look best.

I used a true metallic undercoat under the clear red, with blue and green shadows.
That is the method shown in the ForgeWorld Imperial Armour books and many videos.
Here is my old blog entry with some WIP pictures: http://stephanius40k.blogspot.com/2016/10/mechanicum-cerastus-knight-atrapos-wip.html
