Anyway, I am seeking help in the form of creating a Word Bearer power-based army for a narrative campaign that I am running. So far in the campaign the players have been fighting renegade imperial guard and the players have been absolutely destroying everything that they run into (I play the Op4). To be specific the range of power that we play at is 200-300 per battle and we use Forgeworld stuff such as titans and thunderhawk gunships.

I know if I were playing a WB army at that kind of size, I'd be taking a small carpet of Cultists, backed up by about a demi-company or full company of actual Astartes, and then peppering in Chaos Knights and even Daemonic allies.

Will you be building the army from scratch, or from an existing collection? Because, if from scratch, 200/300PL is a lot of ground to cover! But, on the positive side (and I'd be saying this regardless of PL or not), but at the size of armies you're working with, it realistically means you shouldn't concern yourself with things like "should my Champion have a plasma pistol or bolt pistol, or power fist or power sword" - take what you like the look of first and foremost. LOL

I ran:
- Thunderhawk Gunship
- Dark Apostle
- Master of Possession
- Sorcerer
- Greater Possessed
- 15 Possessed
- *Summoned
- Keep of Secrets
- Herald on a Chariot

I used the Thunderhawk to get close and drop everyone off and hen use the Master of Possession to summon the daemons. Half of my possessed died from overwatch and then in the next round following everyone got gunned down by bolter fire. It was again another rough day fr the home team. :(

The gunship did hold up until the end of the game though.

I will take your recommendations. I certainly think I should use knights and perhaps more conventional Astartes.

Since playing chaos, I always had trouble using daemons as well as heretics Astartes in the same army. If there's any kind of written tutorial on how to play the two together anywahere, can you please refer me to that? Drop the Thunderhawk for one. You barely have enough bodies there to really be effective, you just loaded up on flashy toys backed up by one of the least useful unit choices in the Codex. As for summoning Daemons, small units of cheap distractions or massed Troops to take objectives.
