The new scheme started with a basic scheme so I could paint models quickly (for me - these four in a weekend), with more than a little influence from Nard's gorgeous and distinctive style:











Next I put my version of Old One Eye in for the February Dakka painting comp, and got some really useful feedback from Deadshot and feltmonkey. It's taken a while to get back to it, but the lockdown has given me a bit more time to work on changing the bone-coloured skull to green, and adding some shadow/depth to the base, which I think worked well.

One of the other suggestions was a light blue or turquoise highlight for the chitin Rather than jump straight in to adding turquoise highlights to the carnifex, I thought I'd try it on one of my test Warriors above, and I love it. Ok, so each model is probably going to take double the time now, but I can live with that! My only problem now is that I can't seem to get good photos of it - the effect in real life is a bit less subtle, but fades in to a nice trompe l'oleil effect at tabletop distance.
