Doubt about Medicae

I have a doubt if doctors/medicae have a specific color scheme. Especially surgeons.

I saw this pic

but I don't know if this turquoise green is official or each one can have a different color. I have seen apotecharies with white/red. Also other miniatures as the cult genestealer doctors, has white clothes.

if someone background expert can tell me something I would be very grateful

Doubt about Medicae

The most common symbol is some variation on the cadeuceus - the logo you can see on the guy's skirts and the other guy's case, and the apothecary shoulder pad

It represents both the coiled snakes - an old Greek symbol for the god of healing, and more recently the coil of DNA

Blues and whites are common but not universal

Doubt about Medicae

It's not coiled snakes though, that was a mistake Star Trek TNG made that certainly popularised the wrong symbol in a lot of people's minds (though the mistakes date back well before that - though it turns up a lot in companies who's business is in medical support). It's supposed to be one snake coiled around a staff or club - Rod of Asclepius, patron of healing and medicine.
Two coiled snakes is Mercury's symbol, and is associated with merchants (and the passing of people into the realm of the dead!)

Doubt about Medicae

It's a split at the moment, apparently about 70% of medical organisations in the US that use a snake/staff emblem use the Rod of Asclepius rather than the Cadeuceus. It's split 50/50 in medically adjacent businesses.

That said in 40K it's usually a distorted Cadeuceus, where the snakes have been forgotten (apart from the Twisted Helix) and replaced with a skull (with or without wings) and the twisted snakes are a DNA-like helix.

That latter bit is probably why the shift happens now (that and media companies encounter the business symbol more than the medical one and don't recognise that there is a difference).
