How long does old spray primer last

Hi all,

I will test this out on a spare piece of sprue, just wondering what your experiences have been?
It’s a can of Chaos Black (with the blue label) that is probably 7 or 8 years old.
I can feel it moving around when I shake it so that is a good sign!

I've used some that was several years old. Not sure if it was quite at the 7 or 8 year mark, but it can last a pretty long time if it's stored properly.

That being said, definitely test it out before using it on something you care about.

From my experience, spray cans are likely to either clog or have the propellant leak out long before the paint goes 'bad'. If they still shake up, and still spray, they'll likely be fine. I have cans of spray of various brands downstairs that are well over 10-15 years old, that are still fine.

Ironically I had my father tell me last weekend that he found an old can of Dark Angels Green in their basement and used it on something, and it sprayed and dried just fine. I told him "damn, dad....that can's gotta be nearly 20 years old!!"
