base was a spare section of balsa wood i had left from another project, the plastic was some cups from taco bell i cut down

Tells a story in a sense. Thanks for sharing some inspirations, especially some made using easily gained and inexpensive materials!
One idea. Take some white glue, run it along some of the cracks, sprinkle with green flock, and it will be perfect moss growing in the gaps.
