Needless to say it was the lowest model count nid army i've ever seen. I think we mostly expect swarms of nids with some heavies mixed in, or medium units like warriors in the mix.

The necron army was a little more balanced by topheavy with heavies, with a seraptek and a vault. Plus nightbringer and deceiver. But there were some troops. And even a tomb spyder! A rare army in that it was devoid of destroyers.

It made me wonder just how small a 2000pt army can be in terms of model numbers.


So hey, just for fun, if you feel like, post a 2,000 point army with as few models as you can manage. I know a pure knight force is gonna be pretty low in model count, obviously. I'm curious to see the results from various factions.

Maybe some people will start a small model number tournament to see what faction can field the best low model count army.

FW/LoW can do 7 models at 2k.

Mix and match Land Raiders and Repulsors varients to taste, you get 6 of them. Calgar rides in one and Cronos drives another.

Battleforged, using 2 of whatever the HQ+ Heavy Support detachment is called. Chronos lets you keep your model count down by not needing another HQ with points density less then a MBT.

And honestly? Might not play that badly. It’s a LOT of T8 wounds to chew through, and you get a good variety of firepower on the tanks. Calgar helps make up for the lack of CP from detachments, and there are a few that can be used.

Edit:
I forgot you could take repulsors as dedicated transports. So you can drop Calgar and get it down to 6 models in one detachment. I know the tau don't actually have 'knights' but I seem to remember a really huge batlesuit or something that just looked like a gigantic pair of thighs with missile pods stacked on top.

These are without knights, but you can have 1 model 2k armies if you included knights/titans.

CWE can have 5 or less models easily with their large vehicles (300-900pts) not counting Knights. Then there is Wraithlords, Avatar, etc.. they have a lot of large pointed units.

DE/Ynnari can have a spearhead of 1480pts of 4 models (then after that 3 flyers) for 7 models.

Custodes have a lot as well, with heavy tanks, dreads, etc.. I believe they can be as low as 6 (Going off memory).

Nids can also be super low, 3-4 models b.c they have some large bugs (300-600pts) Harridan, Heriodule, etc.. they are not knights, but many consider them knight EQ. Without them they still have 200+ point sigle models. Flyrants can be 280pts.
