Airbrushing Inks and Overspraying

I've been messing about with airbrushing and I've mostly enjoyed priming, doing a zenithal highlight and then adding the nice colour on top for that smooth look.

I've been getting more practice in with artist inks, specifically Liquitex and Daler Rowney and I notice that sometimes I'm spraying ink and it's either blasting off the zenithal highlight or pooling. I'm pretty sure I'm just being over zealous and not letting the ink dry inbetween coats. Is there anything else that could cause that, for example too thin a coat of ink?

Currently I tend to spray at 10-20 psi and I use a few drops of thinner with the ink as otherwise I got a few clogs. Anything about the setup I need to change?
