Experience with Puppetswar large models

I was looking into this model ( https://puppetswar.eu/models-and-bits-50/all-models/machines/prime-battlewalker-v1.html ) as a potential knight sized walker for my forces and I was wondering if anyone around here has had any experience with larger models from puppetswar.

I have read that larger resin pieces are more likely to bend/shrink causing the need to reshape it using hot water, but I was wondering how much of an issue that is with their models in particular.

So far I have only purchased infantry sized resin models from other companies, so that is mostly the reason I am trying to be cautious

I have two buggies from them, the "Hound" and one of the orky ones. Both kits were quite good, no bending, shrinking or warping and no air bubbles. There was quite some filing to do were the parts had been attached to the mold, but these points were intelligently chosen so that I did not loose any detail. The resin is a bit brittle so I accidently broken of a roll bar on the buggy, but all in all I found those models had less issues than puppetswars infantry

I got the ork warbus from puppetswar a few years ago. Generally good, with a few caveats. The small window-grills had a lot of miscast and breakage, presumably related to being thin and small shapes. A fair bit of trimming and filling was necessary to minimize gaps between the largest pieces. The piece that sits on the "truck bed" (an optional bit converting it to the close topped "school bus" shape) had a noticeable bend to it that simply could not be fixed with hot water. It's a big ole brick of resin.

I'm happy with how the model turned out, but it was rougher in fit and condition than minis and models I've gotten from others (Kromlech in particular).

I have some of their older razorback turrets, and they were awful casts.

On the other hand, their more recent not-terminators were gorgeous, and nice, clean casts. That's as big as I've gone, though.

Re:Experience with Puppetswar large models

I’ve bought various bits from Puppetswar, the biggest being the Ork fighter jet (https://puppetswar.eu/models-and-bits-50/sci-fi/orcs/flying-coffin-orcoplane.html) and the flak turret (https://puppetswar.eu/models-and-bits-50/sci-fi/orcs/orc-flyer-destructor-turret.html). Both were absolutely fine as far as resin models are concerned; the only significant defects were a slight mould line on the turret body and a few of the cables / gribblies on the jet mounts had some bubbles that made them a bit fragile. All four long barrelled autocannons on the flak turret were arrow straight, which was very impressive.

In my experience of resin suppliers (admittedly mostly smaller upgrade parts), best to worst:

Maxmini (unfortunately now closed, will have to see how Troll Trader handles the IP)
Kromlech, newer Victoria miniatures & new Forgeworld
Older Victoria miniatures & newer Puppetswar
Older Puppetswar (mainly because they have a lot of flash)
...
...
Old Forgeworld

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Just to add that I would buy from any of them again; they all have beautiful models and I haven’t had anything outside of what I consider routine “resin is for experienced modellers” issues. Certainly compared to some of the complete green stuff detail resculpting I’ve had to do on certain finecast models...

Thanks for your inputs
I am obviously expecting at least some of the typical work of handling resin parts.
Filling small gaps is fine since I did with some of my converted infantry models, so as long as it is not something huge I should be fine.

Re:Experience with Puppetswar large models

I have been ordering from Puppetswar for a really long time. There was a period a long time ago where their casting quality was bad (2013 or so) and I got some iffy models in that timeframe from them, but they overcame that and they are pretty solid now. I've gotten lots of stuff but the biggest is the Ork Walkers and the Dragonfly (Valkyrie size). No real issues now other then what you would normally expect from a resin vendor, minor cleanup.

I've edited Jadenim's list with my own personal experiences:

Superb tier: Mad Robot (beautiful casts, like injection plastic), Secret Weapon (about the same)

Excellent tier: Maxmini | Kromlech | Spellcrow

Good tier: New Puppetswar | Victoria miniatures | average Chinese recast, although this varies wildly | Ramshackle | Zinge

Acceptable tier: Older Puppetswar | Forgeworld*

Poor tier: Finecast, *sometimes Forgeworld is here too

Terrible tier: WarChimera

I have no hands on experience with Anvil, Paulson, or anyone else omitted.
