Using retro minis with new units?

I want to try out Terminators with the new edition and I only own a squad of newer terminators...But I own 15 of the retro metal chaos terminators.

Would the size difference be an issue model wise, or is it fine as long as the bases are the same?

Check with your opponents.

Technically playing them on the bases they came with should be fine. Many people prefer you to rebase. Tournaments have their own rules.

I use old metal terminators, nobody ever complained. There are some advantages of short guys on small bases, but also some drawbacks. IMHO they balance out close enough not to care, but that is not a universal opinion.

In that specific instance, there is honestly not that much of a size difference. Simply put those Termies on a 32mm base, then put the 40mm base underneath that. Cover it in your basing material of choice and you're done!

Like so-

Now, the metal Termie on the far left was embiggened a tad by cutting him at the waist, but you can see with the riser on his base he's as big as a modern Termie.

Love that big ol' belly mouth, Grimtuff.

Agree with the above, I did the same for my metal termies - glued their 25 mm bases onto a 40 mm base. About the same height and same size unit footprint; yer golden.
