The differences between the different sectors of the Imperium?

Of course each system will be radically different from most other world's but do the biggest denominations of Imperial dominion- the sectors - have any special characteristics , such as one sector tending toward a certain Creed of the eccliesarchy , or having a particular holy significance as a big part of space or having a peculiar historical background that differentiates from the other sectors?

Re:The differences between the different sectors of the Imperium?

er, short answer is yheabutnobutyheabutno.........

longer answer is that they do have some, but its very diffuse and almost nothing is written about their character except in passing. the sheer size of a sector normally means that its too big for 40K players to care about, as at the scale of dozens of planets, a 40K battle doesn't really have any effect. even the big summer campgians they used to do were smaller in scale, with the exception of the 13th Black Crusade (which gives you an idea of the scale of a sector threatening event has to be)

however, some sectors do have known tendencies, i'm sure, the most notable is the Cadia sector with its emphasis on protecting the Cadian Gate (pre-Fall, obvs). the area around Ultimar is also focused around supporting the UltraSMurfs, etc.

Re:The differences between the different sectors of the Imperium?

There is a little more to it that we can expand on... the Eastern Fringe, for example, is more often than not the "wild west frontier" of the Imperium, where pirates have more freedom, Rogue Traders are more noticeable in both their presence and their actions, and more things tend to go unnoticed. This is also somewhat true of the western edge of Segmentum Pacificus, where Macharius' crusade ended - the last few systems he conquered damn near tore themselves apart in civil war after his death, although concerted effort did eventually bring them back into the Imperial fold.
Both these areas also form the edge of the Astronomican, so there's kind of a hard limit on the Imperium stretching out any further without major changes, and that's in part what allows them to be more lawless in nature.

By contrast, Segmentum Solar is the most locked-down of the quadrants and it's here that punishments for transgressions are most likely to be meted out swiftly and mercilessly - not a good idea to be a wayward planetary governor here, nosir.

I'm guessing you're aware of the galaxy map, but just in case:
https://www.warhammer-community.com/2017/04/23/new-warhammer-40000-the-galaxy-mapgw-homepage-post-1/

I pretty much figured the "kind of sort of but not really because it's a massive varied chunk of galaxy " answer. The mecharius a eastern fringe sound like suitable plot areas for my undecided homebrew space Sisters to inhabit as well as justify some things the Inquisition mitfrown on like using xenos tech and engaging in shady Mechanicus type endeavors.
