Weapons and Data Sheets

When it says on the data sheets " Any model can be equipped with Weapon instead of Weapon B". Does that mean that even though I have physically Weapon A on the model that I can declare before the game that Weapon B is actually the one we would use?

I am mostly asking due to infantry options where I am not going to take the time to magnetize 100+ units, especially since they are way too small. I have magnetized things as the drop pod but I won't do it for small weapons

I don’t think WYSWYG has been in the rulebook for a few editions. So it’s not required. However, organized play groups (like tournaments and clubs) might have their own rules.

It’s a fairly simple counts-as with a lot of the options, the issue is if you mix and match. Which squad has the auto bolters? Which are the rapid fire? WYSWYG is there to help keep the game running smoothly and prevent gotcha moments when one player doesn’t realize what it on the table.

At this point in casual play it’s a polite thing to do, but if you keep the counts-as down to a minimum, and make it uniform, most people won’t mind. If I have to spend more time asking you what each unit it then playing the game, it sucks a lot of the fun out of it.

Those that don't just accept it as a common standard. - nothing in the rules says you cant use weighted dice or 10" objectives but you dont - We have standards that are considered basic and useing the correct model so your opponent knows what it is is important.

I remember a 7th argument when a player walked his meltas up to some vehicles and the opponent objected because those meltas were represented by flamers and had been ignored as flamers cant hurt a tank in that edition so had permitted it.
