Squigology, aka The Dakka Squig Spotters Guide.

How do!

So here’s something a little bit different for you. Inspired by the RT Ork books, and the artwork contained within, I present to you a chance for a hopefully fun, Dakka-wide collaboration effort.

In short, for those with an interest in drawing, I want you to draw your own Squig. And for the creative writers, to offer a bestiary type description of one of the Squigs drawn. Or indeed both, if you’re a multi-talented individual.

To kick you off and perhaps inspire? Here’s an original piece of Squig art, from the RT era, complete with a short bio. But please don’t feel constrained to a medium, or style/length of writing.

Really hoping this will turn out to be a thread of interest and fun

I'll bite!

Telesquig

Voyages between warring planets can be long and boring. For the warboss who doesn't want his boys to use all their krumpin' enthusiasm on each other (which keeps the docs real busy), there's the telesquig. A telesquig's open maw produces a holographic display of flickering pictures, often following a rudimentary narrative such as a rowdy grot being chased by an angry ork and eventually smashed. Any nearby orks seemingly enter a low-level hypnotic state and do nothing but stare at the telesquig's picture. If the group gets bored with the current show, they just need to hit the clicker ("clicker" being a nearby grot), who can get the telesquig to change the channel by twisting the antenna sprouting from its head. As most telesquigs are larger than the grots, they usually also disappear into the telesquig's mouth, necessitating the orks to find a new clicker. In a pinch, a weirdboy can usually get the telesquig to change channels with a low-level psychic burst.

Physically, a telesquig has small, feeble legs and a long tail, and is often overweight. It cannot move under its own power.

Discerning warbosses can upgrade to HD-telesquigs, which have large maws and can display even larger, more detailed holograms.
