Mixed battle forged detachment

'm trying to figure this out so I'm asking for help. I want to build a detachment using CSM and daemon units. If all of the units are using the same word then the detachment should be battle forged. My problem comes with my trying to figure out if I'm allowed to use CSM and/or Daemon special rules such as Legions or Daemonic special abilities and also where I can pick my warlord trait and relic from. Here's an example of what I'm talking about:

Battalion:
Daemon Prince w/ mark of Slaneesh
Keeper of Secrets
2 units of CSM with the mark of Slaneesh
1 unit of Daemonettes
1 unit of Greater Possessed with mark of Slaneesh
1 unit of Obliterators with mark of Slaneesh
1 unit of Seekers of Slaneesh

In the old days of 3rd edition this was a legitimate force org. I don't know if this is legal in 9th. Any help/info would be appreciated.

This is a legal detachment since all units share the Slaneesh Faction Keyword. The detachment is a Slaneesh and Chaos detachment. Since all units in the detachment share those keywords.

This means the detachment does benefit from anything requiring it be a Chaos Space Marine or Chaos Daemons detachment. No Legion Tactics or Daemonic Reward. No Stratagems from either Codex. No Objective Secured abilities.

If possible, you should at least consider splitting this into two Patrols so that you gain everything you don't get above. 2 CP might not be a bad price for what you gain. The army would be:

Patrol (Chaos, Daemon, Slaanesh):
Keeper of Secrets
1 unit of Daemonettes
1 unit of Seekers of Slaanesh

Patrol (Chaos, Chaos Space Marines, Slaanesh):
Daemon Prince w/ mark of Slaanesh
2 units of CSM with the mark of Slaanesh
1 unit of Greater Possessed with mark of Slaanesh
1 unit of Obliterators with mark of Slaanesh

Short answer, no.

Longer answer, matched play rules say you can't build off the Imperium, chaos or xenos keywords, you have to use another one. For example, slaneesh.

However, your CSM and your demons need to be in separate, legal formations to get their detachment abilities like objectives secured.

So, you'd have two patrol detachments, with one of the two being "free" and the other costing you 2cp. Both detachments need a ha and a troops choice in them. You only have one warlord and one warlord trait and one relic, but you can pay cp to get more.

I was afraid this was the conclusion. I'm just trying to figure out a way that the greater possessed can effect the daemons in the other detachment. Since they only effect daemon units. Or am I reading this wrong and it can be one or the other but not needing both keywords?

It needs both keywords. A Herald will buff a Greater Possessed because a Herald gives an aura of +1S to DAEMON units, but a Greater Possessed will not buff in return because it only buffs DAEMON units.

Incorrect. Page 280 states that ~"and this keyword cannot be Chaos, Imperium, Aeldari, Ynnari, or Tyranids, unless the detachment in question is a Fortification Network" ~
Orks, Tau, & Necrons are not subject to this limitation. For whatever that's worth....

Ah, fair enough. I was quoting from memory and didn't look up exact wording. The salient point that couldn't use CHAOS as the foundation keyword remains

But, I can use the specific name of a Chaos God as a foundation keyword. So, Khorne or Slaneesh is allowed to be used thus my list above is acceptable as a battle forged detachment. I just receive no special benefits for my units.

That is because the ORKS, NECRONS and T’AU EMPIRE keywords are only found on one army. Implicitly, they are limited in the same way.
