How Do I Paint Necrotic Flesh?

I'm in the process of painting my Death Guard Helbrute. I've done all the metal and now I'm going to move on to the fleshy bits. I don't want to do standard pink skin or the usual green Nurgle flesh. I want to make it look like the helbrute has Necrotizing fasciitis (you probably don't want to look that up). From my research, the disease causes inflammation in tissue, and eventually, the tissue dies. This creates a pattern of pink to red skin, yellow and green bruise-like edges, and finally black in the completely dead areas. Have any of you painted something like this before? Any advice, tutorials, or guides you can suggest? I'm looking for paint and process advice specifically.

Here are some images of the helbrute so you can see what the fleshy parts look like on him. I replaced the head with a ball bearing surrounded by green stuff. That part will be painted as a cycloptic eye eventually. The midriff is a mix of craft glue and superglue (thanks to Midwinter Minis) to create a stringy texture, intended to be painted as guts and/or muscle. Advice or painting those areas is also appreciated.

How Do I Paint Necrotic Flesh?

Don't have any tutorials but if I were going to go for that look, I would pick a base tone, say a yellowy grey like deck tan, or something like rakarth flesh maybe. And then mix those colours you mention into it in a fairly random manner as you paint it across the flesh areas. This should be a fairly thick, in terms of not globbed on but with little to no thinning. Once this is dry you can then enhance the areas to bring contrast and depth, and blacken the areas you think should be totally dead.

How Do I Paint Necrotic Flesh?

I decided to wing it. My process was Zandri Dust, Baal Red on the most ragged flesh, then Leviathan Purple here and there to make it look more bruised. I then applied Blood for the Blood God (after spilling it on my hands and desk) to the wounds and added some Nurgle's Rot around the edges of the wounds.

Spoiler:

I still need to paint the eye, toenails, and add a patina with Nihilakh Oxide. I'm open to feedback here. Personally, I think I muddled the model too much. The color separation is lackluster to my perfectionist eyes.

The flesh effect looks pretty good. I would have maybe gone with less blood and maybe bring up the contrast with some lighter skin areas. You could still do this, especially if you used oil paints.
