Could anyone please point me to a guide on how regimental markings on Cadian infantry and tanks are structured?

The codex doesn't have any info on this except the illustrations.

Getting back into 40K and want to build a standard Cadian army.

Right shoulder has army badge. This is the stylised Cadian Gate symbol on the studio's Cadians. Given that it appears in the markings of multiple regiments, across multiple warzones, presumably this is a standard design for all/many Cadians.
Left shoulder has a three digit squad designation number. Numbers beginning with one or two zeroes are usually reserved for Kasrkin. Command squads have a two digit designation, with a skull in the middle.
Whiteshield units don't appear to have shoulder markings, and have a white stripe on their helmet.
Peaked caps are usually reserved for officers only in non-veteran regiments.

Vehicles seem only to display the Gate symbol and a vehicle number (Imperial Armour vol.1 notes this as the vehicle's number within its squadron. It's unclear what the far larger numbers on the studio army's tanks represent. Number within regiment?) as standard.
