Cornelivs Maximvs Allies (and Enemies)

To set some context, I like to convert/mix kits and also to write so it is natural that my conversions influenced by the books I recently wrote and the books influenced the miniatures that I have been converting (or planning to convert). For reference, it is a sci-fi series although not all miniatures will be coming from sci-fi backgrounds.

Some of the regiments and forces from the Cornelivs Maximvs universe are described below.
Abistrev
Surrounded by storms for many centuries, the system of Abistrev was completely isolated and thus deviated from the forces of the nearby systems. Knowing the storms would end one day, the Abistrevians trained hard and created powerful and disciplined regiments well prepared for defensive roles, especially when garrisoning fortifications like the large city-bunkers where most of their population lived.
After the defeat of the heretic that had misled part of the Abistrevians to fight against the imperial forces, the loyalist forces were reintegrated into the imperial guard and the system turned into a fortress to serve as a base for future operations.

The Abistrevians are currently being built as Raumjagers from Wargames Atlantic.

Spoiler:

Aidaca
A warm and overpopulated planet, Aidaca is the origin of some of the most well disciplined regiments in the region. Their loyalty makes them well suited to garrison all sorts of important locations, including centres of industry and other locations of value. Used to living in high temperatures, the regiments of Aidaca are commonly seen wearing long coats over their armour, to help them endure the colder temperatures. Although they are mostly seen on garrison duty, many regiments are sent into warzones with the intention of capturing particularly important objectives, regardless of the opposition.

The soldiers of Aidaca are currently being built as Grognards from Wargames Atlantic, mostly because their warm planets makes them need some coats wherever they go.
Despite that, the first model from Aidaca was a Lieutenant and she actually came from Statuesque Miniatures (the commissar).

Spoiler:

Harpig
Covered with dry mountains and tall plateaus, Harpig is a planet filled with many different tribes who have fought each other frequently in the past, but that are now at peace, under imperial authority. Used to fight in their dry and uneven terrain, the soldiers of Harpig are excellent sharpshooters and their close combat companies are among the best in the region. Their lack of armour makes them mobile, but obviously reduces their effectiveness in prolonged assaults, so they prefer to make fast attacks before retreating. Their sharpshooters will often garrison important fortifications, eliminating the enemy at a great range.

The soldiers of Harpig are currently being built as Afghans from Wargames Atlantic and of the 3 regiments they are the only ones not currently featured on a book.

Spoiler:

Some other allies for Cornelivs take the form of heavily armoured soldiers, which in this case are using some of the Conquest Space Marines, although Special Forces in the books are not huge unlike 40k marines.
I am not a great painter, but below you can find some of my painted members of the Special Forces:

Spoiler:

From Conquest I converted the 2 containers I got (the subscription stopped being reliable in my country, so I stopped getting it and thus only got the first 2 containers), using some of the cadian command squad bits, as well as hwt bits and some tank commander heads.

I am a big fan of reuse of materials and so I have been planning to do some DIY stuff to spend of the parts I have lying around. An example of the wheeled heavy weapon platform I have built recently:

While I have to find a better way of assembling the entire thing for the next ones, the end result is mostly what I had in mind, so it should be good enough to continue "production".

I still need to organize my gallery a bit and give things actual titles, but it contains essentially most of my hobby stuff from the last year or so. I am a slow painter so most stuff is still unpainted, but hopefully things should improve since I will be able to work on the miniatures more often than before, as they are no longer in a different country than me most of the time

Cornelivs Maximvs Allies (and Enemies)

I have been experimenting with something to reuse some of the spare parts I have lying around, including the Mantic strider parts. Meet the Nut Cracker:

The plan is to use a similar concept to spend the existing weapons, as well as the vehicle fronts (closed or opened and with a pilot inside) and their major objective will be allowing some themed but crazy conversions. I don't have a sentinel lying around, but this conversion should be somewhat bigger than a sentinel and a bit more closer to a dreadnought, based on the relative sizing of striders to those models. The "extremely beautiful" legs were done using a paper clip and a repair epoxy from a DIY shop (I wanted something that glues well to different materials). The epoxy can be sculpted like with greenstuff, but it solidifies more quickly and you are advised to use gloves while using it and since I only had very inadequate gloves at the time of the experiment, this was the result. Still, not bad for a first try.

I have also been painting some of the stuff on my paint queue:

Spoiler:

Negavolt cultists are used to represent a specific type of cyborgs made by Cornelivs

Traitors is used as a pirate for the crew of the Revenge of Airom.
Have been working on getting some paint on the models in the queue, this week the fortunate ones were the Afghans which I am using to represent the soldiers of Harpig
I have decided to go with something simple in terms of colours but somewhat consistent.

In the meantime, the nut cracker is evolving into a mini diorama with more stuff to come.

Next up in the queue are the raumjagers that represent the soldiers of Abistrev (currently drying from the spray paint I use for priming).

Keep it up!

Thanks, the plan is to combine some of the spare front pieces of the mantic striders with some epoxy and nut shells as well to make a few other walkers, although some of them will likely be similar in concept to the nut cracker and just go fully nuts (pun intended ). The follow up walkers will likely be better sculpted as I was still experimenting with that white epoxy this time, so I wasn't sure how well it would work, as it works better for working with other materials than greenstuff, but it behaves a bit differently.
I also have a plan in my mind to spend the spare mantic mule parts I have (I have bought several of the plague versions so I have the non-plague parts around for the front cabin), which I will experiment with once I finish the sculpting for the mini diorama of the nut cracker. Since I am mostly experimenting with things I haven't tried before the final results are still a mystery to me

I guess left arm prosthetics will need to be issued if I am to use all those right arms. Will need to find an efficient way to get the needed arms, as building them with greenstuff would likely take forever to accomplish, if I am to spend all spare parts I have left. Perhaps I could make some moulds and cast them in the quantities needed based on sculpted arms, but I would have to become a better sculptor to achieve that. I guess this is going to be a learning opportunity

From vehicles I don't have many spare parts and most of the spares can likely be used as platforms, ladders and other stuff for terrain, while any left over weapons can certainly be used to convert other vehicles.

I have been eyeing the grognard HWT from wargames atlantic, but the fact that they have so many spare heads and no imperial regiment needs that many head trophies, has been keeping me from getting some boxes, especially because the spare cadian HWT bits I have should be enough to make a bunch of weapon platforms/teams.

An update from the front, the Nut Cracker mini-diorama is now painted

"The warrior inside the walker knew that their time was limited and they really had to keep moving. Honouring the dead hero would have to wait until the entire area was cleared of enemies. He spoke to the young lady, as she cried while kneeling in front of the cross marking the final resting place of her brother.
- We have to keep moving, miss! Your brother was a great man, but we cannot remain here, my scanner indicates that we have many enemies closing in on our location.
The woman remained silent, but cleared the tears from her face The warrior spoke again.
- I promised your brother I would keep you safe, after all I owed him my life after he saved. Like he carried me trouble the battlefield, after the grenade destroyed my legs, I will carry you through the area, forcibly if I must.
The woman finally got up and replied to him.
- Lead the way to the imperial lines! Once I get my armour and additional gear I will return and have my revenge!
- Follow me and keep your axes ready, I suspect we will have to fight our way through."

Cornelivs Maximvs Allies (and Enemies)

Despite a long time since I last posted here, I have been working on hobby related stuff (mostly assembling infantry and experimenting with materials for terrain).

Today I want to show the soldiers I recently painted for my regiment from Aidaca:

This represents a full box of grognards from Wargames Atlantic and I must say I was a bit surprised with how long it took to paint the long coats, it just felt like forever, but they got done so that is a good thing
Another 24 should be primed next weekend.
