Corax white and Chaos black colors as airbrush paint ?

Hello,

I'm trying to locate an airbrush friendly paint (ideally Citadel) that will be the same or nearly the same color as Corax white and Chaos black rattle cans.

I'm NOT using them as a primer. I'm using them as a base coat, following the Games Workshop painting suggestions.

Will Abaddon black achieve the same result as Chaos black? Citadel makes Abaddon black in an 'air' version, so that'd be nice and easy.

I have NO idea what to use in place of Corax white. I've read Corax white is a slightly grey color?

Thanks in advance!

- Garrett

Corax white and Chaos black colors as airbrush paint ?

The problem with the Chaos Black rattle cans as I remember it is the finish not the colour. Even when GW sold Chaos Black as both a brush on and spray on paint the finishes were still different.

Unfortunately the only solution is to either not use the rattle cans or to use the rattle can and then paint over with Abaddon Black (this is what is recommended in the Warhammer TV painting guides).

If you need to do any touch up this colour is pretty close to Ulthuan Grey...

Ulthuan Grey is a light grey color on the cool side, so going on this I would not call Corax White a 'pure' white (I don't have a pot of Corax White).

I know Green Stuff world do an airbrush thinner that I have used and I expect Vallejo do one.

I might just take some mixing because my experience of all GW whites in a pot is they get lumpy.

Re:Corax white and Chaos black colors as airbrush paint ?

I think that's what I'm going to try.

I've read/watched tons of stuff about repotting Citadel paint into droppers. Sometimes people use water, other times they use an airbrush medium. I think I'm going to try the latter. I'm hoping I can still brush with it, but it should be easier to further thin it down for my airbrush. Fingers crossed!

I think if you thin it down to airbrushing then you will probably find it works as a thin layer or glaze. It might be worth only thinning half or buying a separate bottle.
