				<description><![CDATA[ I know, it's a bit early, but a man can think <img src="/s/i/a/6d3c0a908a3861135dfaebde91c0ecf6.gif" border="0"><br /> I've some things left to get/to do, but its on the horizon that I'm able to "finish" my current armies.<br /> That is AdMech and Custodes. Still stuff to do naturally, but there's a chance!<br /> <br /> That got me thinking - what would be next? Simply so that if I stumble over a very good deal I can grab it to add to the pile for when I really start it up.<br /> After selling off my Dark Angels and picking up AdMech and Custodes, I'm pretty sure I want do do something non-imperial.Definately not something <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(119);'>SM</span>-like.<br /> Im not that big a fan of chaos (although that could be a project for the next after the next...) so I already could narrow it down to a xenos army.<br /> <br /> And there are surprisingly few of them!<br /> Aeldari of all kinds are not my style, model and lore wise. That the line is, in some parts, just decrepit doesnt help either. Plus I already have Harlequins and <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(27);'>DE</span> in my local group.<br /> Tau - while I watch some anime, I'm not that big into the suits. I also know  not THAT much about then. They also overlap heavily with the Admech as a very, very shooty oriented army.<br /> <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(722);'>GSC</span> is a bit rough around the edges - I dont dig the mining aesthetic. Pun intended.<br /> Orks - I'm not that much into conversions. Or rather - I am bad at it. Really bad. I manage some magnets, but beyond that my skills are... limited. Which is the primary drive for orks to me.<br /> That leaves my basically only with 2 options:<br /> Crons and Nids.<br /> <br /> Nids are kinda interesting. They differ largely from anything I have, in playstyle and painting. Vallejos Colour Shift paints also sound like a brilliant idea to make them insecoid and contrast paints let you knock out that organic look quick and easy. Con is that there's not that much lore to get attached too - plus we already have some Nids in the meta. Being the red headed stepchild of <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(50);'>GW</span> also is a negative - I feel like there is a refresh coming down the line and getting into it right now feels like a questionable choice.<br /> <br /> Crons are my current favourite. Lots of lore, no local cron player, awesome models (I mean just look at the Doomstalker thing.. thats really something!), C'Than (especially the Void Dragon as an AdMech player), wit Indomitus there's a <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(415);'>ot</span> of cheap stuff floating around... But then, they are just like AdMech and Custodes lots of metalics. And like AdMech, they're primarily shooting, although with the line refresh those new destroyers look like they can tear gak up. But it feels like a good time to delve into Crons with all those new models.<br /> <br /> So theres pros and cons for both sides and I have a hard time deciding...]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ In terms of rules it basically all comes down to "Necrons have a new codex, Nids do not". Their 9th ed codex made Necrons a fun army to play with a lot of different tools and play styles and some fantastic new models. I've really enjoyed playing them, largely because as an Eldar/Tau/Nid player it has felt great to play an army that can actually take a hit. As an old codex nids have more internal balance issues and my understanding is that they are reliant on forgeworld models to be viable at the moment. The Nids will get their time in the sun and I'm sure when they get their codex it will do the same for them as the Necrons and their 'dex, but we don't know when that will be and we don't know how many new models and units will be coming along for them. Nids also have a lot of customisability and which weapon options and biomorphs makes sense is going to change a lot when they get a codex (along with some likely extensive stat changes).<br /> <br /> Nids will get a new codex and an army is a long term investment so ultimately I'd base my choice on lore, play style and painting/modelling enthusiasm. But if you are looking for an army to collect and play right now I'd have to say go with Necrons thanks to their updated codex making them a known factor and a wealth of starter boxes that will give you the core of an army quite easily. I don't know when it will be available but the Imperium part works magazine might also be of interest. If you are going nids I'd see it more as preparing in anticipation of an eventual codex release and focus on "safe" units that will form the bulk of your army, avoid finecast models and magnetising any large models for future proofing.]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ Tau Empire as "the mech faction" is kinda like the Imperium as the "bio engineered super soldier faction" yes... those are their strongest units and what they're best known for, but you can take them down other routes as well; <br /> my Tau army back in 4th edition was an armoured formation, hammerhead tanks supported by infantry in devilfish and piranahas zipping around the flanks, and looked like a very sci fi alien force, without looking all anime mech like. <br /> <br /> If I ever go back to Tau, it will be to build a light infantry jungle cadre of Kroot warriors, pathfinders and the new Fireblade <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(56);'>HQ</span> option. <br /> <br /> ]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ I dont care that much about rules. Rules change, models are forever. Unless you play space marines. Which made me shunt <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(25);'>DA</span> into oblivion. So I'm a bit scared of that happening again, which is why I'd hesitate with Tyranids and Crons have another plus on their side.<br /> Naturally I dont want to play a faction that is just being kicked while down (*cough deathwatch cough*) but I understand that the wheel of power turns and legends fate to myths...<br /> So yes, as you said, I base my decision mostly on models and lore.<br /> <br /> Tau Auxillaries are a thing, that's true... if that part of the army was actually functional it could be a contender. But as is, Tau are just so... sleek.]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ I will let you know that, if Vallejo's colorshift is anything like GSWs colorshift paint line, unless you do airbrushing you're going to have a HELL of a time getting the effect to work well on a large horde army scale.<br /> <br /> I did a Talos Pain Engine recently with it, doing the shell (roughly the size of one carnifex) took several hours with a brush.]]></description>

But as is, Tau are just so... sleek.</div></blockquote><br /> <br /> I've always toyed with the idea of building a Tau Auxillaries army where I convert Kroot into count-as firewarriors and use other models like <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(694);'>AoS</span> Seraphon stuff for vehicles/suits.  I'm to heavily invested in my <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(69);'>IG</span> (Pretorian and Tallarn) and Arbites (count as <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(119);'>SM</span>) to go that way right now, but I've always like the idea.]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ I love love love my Necrons.  <br /> <br /> I would make a melee crons army, but I lack the means to buy all those models at the moment.  Still you can make Novokh warriors surprisingly good in melee.  March a Warden alongside and they can fallback, shoot, and charge without penalty.  Top that off with their insane durability ( esp with a reanimator ) and you have quite a force to be reckoned with.]]></description>
