A Mini Celebration: Converting Festive Models

Hello DakkaDakka,

I've been a bit of a ghost here since I joined, I've read a lot but said little. So in what hopefully will be the start of more involvement with the community I've decided to start a P&M thread.

Just a little of background, I've been a scale modeller all my life but have only come to table top games in the last couple of years. It's been a really enjoyable learning curve as despite having experience with models I'd never built or painted anything organic (all previous experience was aircraft, ships, etc). Another aspect I have really enjoyed is the creativity of table top models as scale modelling tends to be quite prescriptive with regards as to how build and paint.

My current project involves converting the free models Games Workshop is currently giving away every month into 40K celebration characters. The idea first came to me when I picked up the Plague Marine in December last year. I had no need of a Plague Marine but I liked the idea of a 40K Christmas decoration and it seemed to fit in with the gifts of Nurgle thing the Death Guard have going on.

Papa Christmas - Plague Marine - Christmas

The idea soon snow balled from there, so far I've completed five out of the twelve months but there are plans for nine so far (two not sure what to do with and the last one we don't know the model yet).

Reiver's Arrow - Space Marine Riever - Valentine's Day

Horror O'Lantern - Pink Horror - Haloween

Next up is an Ork Toof Fairey which I will hope to keep a record of the build here. If anyone has suggestions for a Stormcast Eternal both what celebrant it would be and what 40K unit it could proxy, I've hit a wall so suggestions would be most welcome.

Well I failed miserably at documenting anything but I did get the Ork done. One day an Ork down on his luck comes across some discarded Pteraxii wings. Fixing them with some scavenged Bane Blade panels he sets off to gather as many Teef as he can.

Da Toof Fairey - Ork Nob
