John Deere Death Guard?

Good afternoon! I had the bright idea between the flesh mowers, bull dozer blades and scythes to make my paint scheme for my Death Guard to reflect John Deere's colors. I'm going to work on a log that incorporates the silhouette of the FW Great Unclean One and from there I am going to get started. I am a very poor painter, Im ok when I can dry brush but if it requires anything more than that I suck.

I have a couple of questions I know I am going to have issues with.

Is there a tall grass that can be added to bases? Im looking for something to give my guys a wheat field look.

I want to turn my GUO into a big redneck. How would I do that? I want him to look as close to a hillbilly farmer as possible (I say this with no disrespect meant, I live in WV and my family owned a farm once ) but have that traditional farmers red neck and arms.

I decided on this theme after I had primed my army in preparation for something else, so they are all Army Painter Necrotic Flesh. How would I go about making sure the green and yellow as well as the metals shows up well on them while not being too bright?

Are there any water or liquid effects for weapons? I have some 3rd Party Contemptors with the oil drum on the back and I would like to make it look like they are watering the fields or spraying chemicals.

If you have any other ideas on how to make this work please feel free to post below and let me know!

Re:John Deere Death Guard?

This sounds like an excellent idea and should work well with the JD colours and Nurgle. As Hankovitch says cheap brushes are a great source of long grasses for 28mm especially wide decorating brushes etc. You can get quite long pre-made tufts as well but if you can source cheap brushes that probably be the way to go. When it comes to sculpting clothing it’s a perfect starter project as the clothes will be tattered so if you approach the sculpting tasks in order of difficulty you should find your sculpting improving as you go. If you can get Procreate putty it is much easier to use and better than green stuff. If you need specific sculpting help give me a shout and I’ll try. Maybe you can get the chainsaw arm off of a stompa and tart it up if you don’t feel you could scratchbuild one (if you need help with that I’m a retired tree surgeon so love a good chainsaw) although I’d be tempted by just a good big axe slung over the shoulder or something similar. Good luck.

DwS

Greenstuffworld sell 12mm tufts. Not sure if that's long enough for what you're going for though. And it might be a bit cost prohibitive anyway compared to using cheap paint bristles, depending on how much you're looking to cover the bases with it.

https://www.greenstuffworld.com/en/296-12-mm

Jeans Dungarees would look pretty awesome on a Redneck Great unclean One I'd think (make sure to give him a farmers tan too ). Shouldn't be too hard to sculpt with greenstuff, but hardly easy either if you're not at least a little experienced with sculpting already.

Other fairly easy identifying cliches: trucker hats, coonskin caps, moonshine jugs, blaze orange hunting gear, wraparound sunglasses (with tan lines to match), corncob pipes, banjos, beer bellies, mullets... the list goes on. (If the OP's excuse of growing up in WV holds, I was raised in the Appalachian Mountains of western Maryland.)

On the hobby side, converting an Ogryn or something else big might be easier that working from the GUO... you'll get your backwoods accessories built that much easier, and then add lots of GS pustules and such.
