W.I.P. - Harlequin Nebula Blade...need some advice

I need some advice on this one - I can't decide whether to add edge highlights in the appropriate colours as I move down the blade, or leave it as it is.

I'm worried the edge highlights might just be too much on a tiny piece of model.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

I personally would do edge highlights. In my opinion they are necessary to sell the fact that it's a blade, and also to help define the edges to aid viewing. You could use the colours you've used for the nebula (which is impressive), on the contrasting areas of edge to sell the effect and still keep the nice colours youve got going.

I would normally also hard edge the top of the blade bevel on a regular NMM sword but I'd say don't do that on this particular piece.

Yeah, a soft edge highlight would give the blade definition. If you are picky with the placement you could do just the bright colours and leave the dark areas without.

Thanks guys - took your advice, and added the teeniest, tiniest edge highlight, and also painted the other side of the blade - too scared to do any more!

Wow, that looks fantastic! It really does look like a tear in reality through which you can see a nebula. Excellent work!
