Kataphron Tracks for Trukk?

I’m about to dive into an ork trukk kitbash using a Taurox, the trukk kit itself, and various ork bits in my box. I wanna give it a half track look so i was wondering… are the Kataphron servitors tracks an appropriate size? If not, where can i find some solid tracks that would fit reasonably well? Im not very crafty so I wouldn’t say plasticard or sprues to make my own from scratch is the answer for me

Also post trukk conversions for inspiration of you got them!

Kataphron Tracks for Trukk?

Kataphron tracks are pretty weedy. They might look okay replacing individual tires on a trukk or a speed freaks buggy, but I don't think they'd convey a nice chonky half-track feel. Your best option, assuming you don't have a 3d printer in your back pocket, is to find cheap toy tracks to salvage. The Robogear toy/model line was particularly good for kitbashing.

The Galvanic Servohauler set was also really useful for these purposes. It's on the pricy side, being a GW terrain set, but you can get a lot of orky looting out of those components.

I'm guessing you don't have or don't like the taurox tracks? Cause those in the back and some trukk tires up front are an instant half-track recipe.

The taurox tracks are a bit too decorated and articulate for what I’m after. I might have to try some looking around with toys and model tanks i think. Thanks for letting me know about the Kataphron tracks, i was about to place an order on eBay for the bits but at the last minute I thought I’d come here for advice

Kataphron Tracks for Trukk?

See if you can track down some people with the old LRBT kits. They had track wheels inside of the actual track assemblies. I ended up fire-saling mine years ago after being fed up of attaching the individual wheels to the insides of the hull for something you'll never even bloody see!

Can’t seem to find any places selling robogear here in Alberta and I don’t know many people I’m the hobby yet to ask around for Russ tracks (i just got back into the hobby last year after a 7 year leave). However, after scrolling through ebay i got another idea:

Would the scrapjet tracks also be too small?

Kataphron Tracks for Trukk?

Yeah, Robogear has been out of print long enough that it seems to have mostly fallen out of the market. It never had much of a storefront presence in NA, mostly it was available through eBay and the like.

Skrapjet tracks are decent sized, the only issue there is that you're pulling bits off a relatively expensive kit. But if you've found a source at a price you're content with, they'll do the trick.

I found a source for just the tracks but I’m probably gonna do some more looking around to find some possibly cheaper options
