As the title suggests I'm looking for suggestions for 28mm shuttle craft/Lighters/Transfer Vessels/ Something that looks right to take people planetside into space. It's for a gaming board I'm making for a friend The problem is bar GW I'm not massively familiar with options for this and I'm sure Westland Wessex is not umm sci fi enough. I have No 3d Printer either. So can people be so kind so suggest some options? Which is perfectly fine, especially for a tenner. It's a nice chunk of resin when you get it, about the size of a Rhino.

You'll have to kitbash some landing gear, as it doesn't come with any.

If you prefer to stick with GW, a Valkyrie might do (very Aliens), or something like a Tau Devilfish is a bit sleeker and more high-tech in appearance. Forgeworld sells the Arvus lighter, but I imagine you're looking for something cheaper.

Several 3D printing shops sell printed 28mm spaceships, but they're also expensive. Antenociti's Workshop has hinted they may bring back some of their beautiful VTOLs and dropships as physical models rather than STL-only, but you won't be getting change out of £100.

Otherwise, it's toy kitbash time. Various Avengers Quinjet toys have been used over the years, or big chunky Star Wars spaceships for the 4" figures. The 2-ft long nerf-firing U-Wing is perfectly sized for 28mm figures. Toys are often OOP and wildly cheap on eBay - I got a Quinjet for £10 a couple of years back, and discarded the Captain America on motorbike that came with it.

One caveat is how much of the gaming table you want to take up with one. A 2ft model is great, but that's a third of your space taken by a single model. I'd suggest staying under roughly 1ft long for a model.

As for the Valkyries the Four I've got are remaining with my Imperial Guard Regiment.

Also the Arvus has ceased production which is a massive shame as I wanted one to represent regimental logistics.

My #1 recommendation is the Star Trek DS9 Runabout model. It's about 1' very modular. You can leave off the nacelles and make it look like a different ship.



But it seems OOP right now so that may not be an option.

The 2001 Space Odyssey Moon Bus is another boxy shuttle that's not so well known it looks out of place.



The Valkyrie is a very modular kit that can be bashed any number of ways.



My dead simple Arvus Lighter formula is a Valk crew compartment and engines (usually available in bits shops) with a Storm Raven turret as the cockpit.



The Maestrom's Edge accessory sprues and Proxie Miniatures barricades provide me with grubbings and stubby wings.
