White Residue from Lahmian Medium

Hey folks,

I've been experiencing some issues with white residues appearing on models I've washed and after some experiments have come to realise it's caused by my Lahmian Medium.

I've been using it to thin various shades, as I have for years, but for some reason with this batch I get a white deposit in the deepest recesses.

I'll be throwing this pot out and getting a new one, but what can I do to save the minis I've painted?

I've tried:
- painting over it with neat medium
- painting over it with neat wash (this almost works, but not 100% and makes the model really dark)
- painting over it with matte varnish

Unfortunately none of the above have really worked.

I was considering a cotton bud with some isopropyl alcohol but this might just result in stripping the miniature.

Any thoughts?

Paint over it with gloss varnish first, then matte varnish?

I assume it's the matting agent, there was probably too much in the pot or the pot wasn't mixed properly.

I have an old pot of Lahmian Medium where it seems much of the medium itself has evaporated off and now the ratio of matting agent is too high and it leaves a cloudy surface.

I've put a gloss coat on a test model - fingers crossed!

I bought the pot not that long ago but I suppose it could have been sat on a shelf for a while before I bought it.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
No luck unfortunately - it looks better but still present.

I might just go for the neat Nuln Oil over the top, it's good enough, just makes them look very dark.
