Poor Hammering with 40k RISK figures?

Thought this might be an idea for doing 4ok, or 40k related rpgs on the cheap. A few questions and thoughts:

- The figures look like they are about 6mm scale, though I assume the vehicles, etc., are not quite in scale?

- They look reasonably well detailed, and seem like they would take a fair paintjob (have not seen any upclose, just online).

- Is the RISK version still in publication?

- Regardless of scale, it seems to me like the plastic pieces would mix fairly well with other lines of figures, that are faux 40k?

Thanks.

WH40k Risk figures - extremely limited selection. Figures as large or larger than the equally limited range of vehicles. A copy of this game will set you back about $50.

If you want tiny 40k/sci-fi minis on the cheap? Just get yourself a cheap 3d printer (from Amazon, wich is where you'd get 40k Risk) & invest the time learning to use it. You'll spend $150-$200 + material.

ccs

While I very much appreciate your considered reply, I think my conclusions are different.

My idea would be to use these pieces in small scale Warhammer skirmish games, possibly even on the roleplaying level, something like Dark Heresy, or even the old Dragon Magazine Article "Orcs In Space" that gave some down and dirty rules for converting original 40k (Rogue Trader) into an rpg.

These pieces would seem to be somewhere between 15 and 18mm scale. Possibly meaning they would work well with 15mm SF humans, who would tend to be shorter than the fairly monstrous (and even in the case of the space marines, barely human) creatures they represent. The vehicles would be small, but might be built up on some kind of rubble base.

I probably should have said this earlier, but I have never been very impressed with 3d printing, which I find inadequate on a number of levels, including cost, investment of time, appearance of the final product, and durability. I do make my own figures sometimes, but these tend to be 2d plastic flats (I am sure others will not care for these any better than I do 3d printing, but to each his own).

In any case, I do thank you for your input.

Epic, 3d printed (by someone else), or just buying second hand are all better options than board game minis.

I don't even think the board game minis are too terrible to game with, I just don't think it makes sense to plunk down 50 bucks for minis that are mostly out of scale with each other.

If you're going to do something RPGish with a low model count, that's all the more reason to just buy a few cheap used 4 10 k minis.
