Can you delay/reduce the red thirst or black rage via the avoidance of melee combat?

So as i have alluded to in many past posts, I'm writing a satirical comedic homebrew. One idea i'm floating around is about a Blood Angels descended Chapter (think a slightly more stable Flesh Tearers) contemplate implementing the hilarious policy of 'avoiding melee combat' because 'they think it'll reduce the chance of falling to the rage/thirst'.

Will this work?

Ie, if Cpt Consultus somehow got it into his head that the best way to avoid getting all thirsty and ragey is to shoot their enemy to bits from afar, is it theoratically possible that the rate of Marines black raging also slightly decreases? (i think the modern psychology term is 'avoiding trigger points'?). Or will all it do is slightly prolonge the service life of a rando marine before they inevitably start black raging anyway

Based on my reading, its a stress response to combat in general, rather than being linked to close combat specifically.

However, there is nothing there in-universe to prevent a chapter from believing that CC leads to black rage.
Combat is probably less stressful at a distance than in melee so it could sort of work.

They should also run away any time they take return fire, not because they're scared of the enemy but because they're scared of just how angry they'll get if they keep getting shot at.
