Employment Year End Party Thread.

How do!

For those of us who care about such things? I feel we need a thread to low key, without defining what we actually do, celebratory thread for surviving and, ideally, thriving another financial year.

My work based financial year finished *checks notes* about five hours ago. And in terms of stats and quality? I’ve kicked Square Inna Fork. So as a wee treat I’m rewarding my idiot brain with a good old Beer Bath. Something to wash away all the stressy nonsense customers who don’t seem to understand the concept of “no”, let alone “23 reasons based in regulation and legislation you’re wrong”.

To kick us off? A party song. Of sorts. Is alright, I’m Scottish.

Also, a piece of music that I felt in my soul when I tipped out my fartsack earlier this morning, knowing I’d exceeded the metrics. Still did a Clever, but an entirely stress free Clever.

Here’s to the next business year, and maintaining if not exceeding standards.

I've been off work since June last year, doing parental leave (thank you, Germany). Unpaid, but we'd put money by so it's alright as long as we're relatively frugal.

I'll be back to it in August and likely have a heavy teaching load again (the fella that took over from me told me taking over my job had been the hardest he'd ever worked in his life) but I'm pretty calm about it. We'll have gotten my youngest through the first 9 months by then and my eldest will be going into kindergarten so my wife will have it a bit easier.

Couldn't really ask for more - the German state is very nice to parents. It's wild more Germans aren't having kids, Ireland is way less generous and we have way more kids anyway. I think it sort of puts paid to the argument that people are not having kids because it's too expensive - it's a cultural shift.
