I’ve been building a small side project called HobbyArmory and I’d love some feedback from fellow hobbyists.
The idea came when I saw how a friend tracked his collection with a giant excel sheet that was really hard to maintain and didn't tell you at a glance how the collection and the backlog looks like. So I said there must be a way to make this easier. After I couldn't find an app that does what I wanted I build my own.
Right now HobbyArmory is focused on Warhammer 40,000 and Age of Sigmar collection tracking. At the moment you can:

- Add box sets from an in-app library or by scanning the barcode
- Add custom sets and custom miniatures
- Track hobby progress across your collection
- Build armies from your collection
- Set hobby goals
- Upload photos of your miniatures

The set library is not fully complete yet, but I’m adding more all the time, and missing sets can be requested directly in the app.
A few features I’m considering next are:

- A wishlist for sets and models
- A more complete army builder with rules support
- Paint tracking, painting instructions, with the colors from the main companies already included
- Support for more systems, like Horus Heresy and Old World

So I’d love to hear:

- What would you want from an app like this?
- Which features would make you use it long-term?
- What feels missing right now?

A few quick notes: I’m building this solo, it’s still in beta, so its not perfect yet. And since it came up before, I’m based in Germany, the app is GDPR-compliant and only uses data needed for login; there are no ads. I’m not affiliated with Games Workshop, this is just a fan-made hobby project.


Even if you don’t want to test it, I’d still really appreciate feedback on the idea and feature direction.

When you say painting instructions built into the app, do you mean a recipes tab attached to individual models?

Perhaps having a general personal recipe log that the user can keep track of and potentially attach to models in their collection for ease of access. Like "assigning" my leather recipe across all models that would use it, but having say "black armour" assigned to some units and "purity seals" to another. Well my first idea was to attach the recipes to specific miniatures and when you have the same mini in a different set you can see all the recipes you attached to that mini. But I like the general purpose recipe book. There I can scroll through my recipes, attach them to the minis I want and when I go on that miniature in my collection, see all the attached recipes. yes, you can already add custom sets, when you don't remember in which box sets your miniatures were before. So adding a custom collection for all minis / systems that are not added yet is totally doable.
