Trying to get my gaming group into Necromunda.

Howdy again everyone!

Recently in a trade I've come across a small amount of Necromunda models. About eleven House Escher models (I think from Gang Sisters and their Maidens), and about two Palenite Enforcer models.

I've decided that since I've been into Bloodbowl, that perhaps dabbing into this specialist game would also be fun. So, I'm curious how to start. Most of my pod are 40k players, but if I wanted to host a small skirmish game for people and not a big campaign, how would I go about doing that?

Note: This is a long term goal, and I'm trying to be economical. I have some Kill Team terrain from Octarius in 40k I was going to use as Hive City terrain, and I'm wondering if it's worth it to collect a box of the Palenite , or another gang?

I'm trying to go as cheap as possible up until I get a 'bite' for another player to try it. That, or host it at my local Autism support group. Thus far, they've taken to playing Bloodbowl rather well, but I worry the rules will be more confusing than Bloodbowl.

I've played the Necromunda games and I like the lore, but the problem is around here most people play big 40k.

I see. The problem is that you need something for both sides of the table, and with minimal hassle and cost. Even with some models and - I assume - plenty of scenery, you've still got a lot to spend out on just the books for youself - never mind the other player you wish to host.

Have a chat with your 40K gaming group and see what they think of the game, if you haven't done so already. Then if all is good then I'd go with either of the core boxed games, spliting with another player if possible.

(They're a lot of competitive 40k whales.)

My idea was to post that I have these things and then see if that would grab their interests. I also don't plan on getting the boxset rn as it's way too expensive. I was going to try to see if I can find online resources for the books. I'm not looking to split anything with them, I'm looking to cast my line and see if I have any bites. But sadly, they're all hooked on the start of the 11th as of now.

I wanted to collect stuff gradually as I go along and use online sources for rules.

Okay, now I really appreciate your predicament. They'll probably feel different if GW has a big launch for Necromunda later on, but for now I recommend going solo so you can at least try the game with minimal cost.

If you can gather the basic rules of the game, a profile for an Escher ganger, and google "Ambot Hunt PDF", you'll only need a model to represent an Ambot and then $20.50 for a set of Necromunda dice.

Here's some videos to get a rough overview of this...

This is a cheap & cheerful set up even for your gaming group, and you'll know the scenario so well that you'll be able to walk other's through it by assuming the role of the Ambot.

Trying to get my gaming group into Necromunda.

I remember throwing a modest Necromunda Campaign for a mate. Used the old rules, which are free online, and we used my 40K models for everything.

I made a bunch of counts-as conversion sketches we used as enforcers & gangers. My friend made a counts-as gang from spare Eldar bitz. It was maybe a bit clunky with a bunch of houseruled scenarios, but good times were had for very little expense.

I totally recommend it! The progression from starting a crew into a rough and ready gang is a fun experience to play.
