While most figures can go in those slots, they often don't fit as well as I'd like - protruding weapons, bulky infantry (like terminators), jump packs, primaris, orks, etc. I'd rather not use per-perforated foam where one removes pegs of foam to make custom spaces - rather, I'm looking for something ready to use, like GW trays, just with bigger spaces. I ultimately need storage for hundreds of figures (probably at least 4-500), so cost is a consideration.

There are 2 schools of thought these days, each with branches. Foam, or magnets.

For foam, I like KR Multicase, but there are a good number of companies that make bespoke trays to fit all sorts of models.

The other main option that sees a lot of use is magnets. Glue a magnet to the bottom of your base, and stick them on a metal or magnetic sheet. Magnets are a pain in the ass, but I use them at home, not just when transporting.

I keep my collection in a transparent drawer for papers, so I can put a magnetized sheet and some magnets on the minis. There they are protected from dust, but also visible for me.
