Hello.

I'm rather new to 40K, and I was wondering if I could get a little help on these guys. I haven't found hardly any information for them, save for what can be found in the Salamanders IA and the Armageddon 3 site. I've heard things from they are White Scars successors (I've read nothing official that says that but several people I've spoken to have mentioned it), they are Salamanders successors, and one piece of fluff that they are actually larger than your "average" Space Marine? I know they are "officially" supposedly a Salamanders' successor, I know they sent 5 Companies to Armageddon, I know they helped the Salamanders and Marines Malevolent retake a Hive City. But aside from that, I come up pretty empty.

I also heard that they are the DIY of a GW employee? Jim Butler, I think the name was? Does anyone know if that's true or not? I really like the name and color scheme of these guys so I'd like to get any info I can if there is any.

there is a mention of them in codex chaos. its the story on the bottom of page 34 and 35. its not much but all i could find, try that wickipedia thing people always go on about.

Storm Giants are a White Scars successor chapter. It's in one of the index astartes.

The Salamanders have no successor chapters.

Wrong. The Salamanders have no 2nd Founding successors. This was due to the extraordinary losses that they sustained during the Horus Heresy. Their legion was already down to chapter size. All of the other legions were still too large and needed to be trimmed down. Seeing as every chapter has to submit a tithe of their geneseed, Salamanders geneseed would be availalbe for use. GW has never stated categorically that Salamanders geneseed isn't used and have mentioned several chapters as being possibly of the Salamanders line. That this statement is being made is a crystal clear indication that some chapters are carrying Salamanders geneseed or there wouldn't even be rumors that a chapter might be.

You're thinking of the Storm Lords who are listed as a White Scars' Second Founding successor chapter along with the Marauders, Rampagers, and Destroyers.

Both the Black Dragons and Storm Giants are thought to be the Salamanders' successors, but not of the Second Founding.

The Storm Giants are illustrated as wearing bone-colored armor (including trim), but which would probably be more acurately described from photographs as very pale green (like the old GW paint "Rotting Flesh" ). The chapter symbol is a stylised red thunderbolt, pointing upwards:

The Storm Lords wear armor that is white on the left side and red on the right, with a yellow helmet (although helmet may indicate company color per Codex Astartes). The chapter's symbol is a skull superimposed over three red lightning bolts:

The Rampagers wear red armor. The chapter symbol is of a fist clenching a yellow lightning bolt:

The Marauders wear yellow armor. The chapter symbol is a flaming sword:

The Destroyers wear "acid yellow" armor with a red chevron pattern down the arms. Their symbol is two crossed lightning bolts. (Sorry, no pic).
