Image Description: The finished diorama with all parts in place and fully painted shown from the front. The Space Marines, which were sculpted respectively by Games Workshop as an Ultramarine, a Blood Angel and a Dark Angel have been painted in traditional colors for those chapters. The dead Ork off to the side was added to imply that there had recently been a raging battle which damaged the Imperial terrain that forms the base of the diorama and that the Space Marines are raising the flag as a symbol of their victorious efforts to recapture the territory. This model was featured on the Games Workshop website in their May 4, 2010 What's New Today blog post at http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/content/blogPost.jsp?aId=10500066a |

That is really cool! But you know what would make it even better? You should have a bunch more dead Orks around it as well as a few dead Marines. It would really give it the feel like it was a REALLY tough fight. |

i don't understand... if the space marines are pushing the flag up to the right, then why is the flag cloth blowing upwards to the right as well? you should spin it around to make it more realistic |

 1) First, the miniature is built exactly as GW designed it. I have no plans to convert or chop up this rare collectible.
2) Have you ever watched the film of the flag raising on Iwo Jima? The flag is blowing up as the US Marines raise it, exactly like the GW miniature representation of it. Sometimes the wind exerts more force than gravity. There is nothing unrealistic about that part of the miniature. |

I would have liked to see an Apothecary in there, because in the flag raising you're all referring to, they weren't ALL Marines. |

Thanks for the nice comments. As for this one:
@ "funny thing about that on is that it only stood upright for about 5 minutes and they extually never concquered Japan."
Huh? Do people read history books or watch documentaries any longer? Japan surrendered unconditionally and US forces occupied the country of Japan from 1945-1952. |

Yeah and IndyDoc is correct ther was 1 Navy Corpman. Fatty needs to, 1. Learn basic english. 2. Learn basic WW2 history, and 3. Not comment on topics he clearly knows nothing about!! Great piece tho man. |

@ "I would have liked to see an Apothecary in there, because in the flag raising you're all referring to, they weren't ALL Marines."
I'm sure if you go back in time about 12 years which is about when this miniature was designed you might be able to persuade the sculptor to do it differently. But seriously, GW's miniature was inspired by the Iwo Jima flag raising, it wasn't meant to recreate it exactly. Remember, it's a fantasy miniature with Space Marines. @ Brother Xorus, thanks to you and several others where applicable for the kind comments on the model. |
