as this shot shows, wooden stirers played a major part in construction. in fact the whole thing is made of these stirers, with the corregated cardboard glued over the top. under the wood there is more, sturdier, card to add support. before i glue the card on, i stained the wood areas with normal wood stain. i also used some long cocktail/ kebab sticks at strategic points to aid the mounting/ basing process. another tip is:- to search out wedding cake shops. although i havent used any here, they supply great roman and greek style pillars. |
