There are 40k Apacolypse data sheets for this unit. theres fluff refering to them. But were are they? There are no models in forge world and i havn't seen very manny models built by fans. I understand that noone wants to be known as the guy who brought a 4000 point super heavy to a planet strike but noone has made one of these? Why?

This is the data sheet that i am refering to http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m2440056_Imperial_Datasheet_-_Emperor_Battle_Titan.pdf

It says Apacolypse and 40k on the data sheet but the only pics i can find of the EMPEROR and the Warmongerer are for epic, is that the only game that you can field these units?

TBH, I don't know the answer to your question BUT you may attract one if you ask more clearly. Do you mean Imperator class?
basically, theyre called Emperor Titans, & there are a couple of different classes, Imperator, Warmonger, etc.

theyre (AFAIK) the largest imperial titans, & people do make models of them, (just do a google image search for imperator titan), theyre just rarer than the smaller classes.

I think the epic models look rather cartoonish, Id like to do a 40k scale Imperator thats dynamically posed & looks like it could actually walk.

There's a forgeworld model for a reaver and some warhound classes of titans. Warhound type's are smallest and most commonly deployed. While the larger one's like warlord and imperators are mostly scratch built by fans, since neither GW or Forgeworld had made models for those, my theory is that it would be so expensive to manufacture even in plastics,it would be tougher to sell those too!

i have faced a few warlord's in 40k APOC games. they are pretty devestating. i own 2 FW warhound titans and 1 armorcast reaver titan (wip) for 40k games, and even a single warhound can shift a game dramaticlly.

as for the emperor class titans, there are 2 in service to the imperium, the imperator and the warmonger. the imperator titan is a more "assault" based titan, if assault can even be used to describe it, its weapons are more short ranged then its brother the warmonger. the imperator (for me anyways) is an iconic model, its one of the first models for the 40k universe i ever saw, and prolly got me into the game. the warmonger is a long range support titan that has a rack of 8 "doomfire" missiles as an arm weapon, you can basiclly choose 3 types of missiles and shoot one each round. the loadouts being the standard deathstrike missile, a warp missile that avoids shields, a barrage missile and i beleive there is a 4th. the warmonger also packs a load of ainti aircraft hydra flak turrets in place of his "towers" and a command center that helps with rerolls when he is firing. this info is all from Epic, where i run an imperator and a warmonger in my Admech titan legion list. a pic for reference. the one on the right is the warmonger, the left one is the imperator.

Re:Imperial Class Titans.

There are actually a few types of Titans:

- Knight-Paladin is the smallest of the titan classes. It only mounts one Titan weapon and only has one pilot tied to its MIU. Good pilots of a Knight-Paladin eventually become moderati and princeps to a Warhound.
- Warhounds seat 3 crew members. Princeps, Moderati and Tactical.
- Reavers operate the middle ground. Larger than a Warhound but smaller and more manuverable than a Warlord. Probably the most commonly used of the Titan classes.
- Warlords can finally use the big guns. The second most commonly used titan class. This is what most Princeps Exceutors link with. This is the class Irvine Hektake used in Titan: God Machine. And the Red Fury used in Titanicus.
- Imperator are the largest and rarest of all the Titans. About the size of a Hive Spire. Capable of laying waste to an entire world or defending it. Its so strong that in Titanicus it took the combine firepower of 20+ titans many of them Warlords to puncture a small section of the Titans shields that manage to collapse its entire network. And even after its shields fell it still took 10 minutes for the Titan legion to kill it. And in that time it killed 2 more Warlords.

So I hope that never do they produce rules for an Imperator. Such a thing would totally create a lopsided game in favor to the titan player.

The reason GW (and no one else for that matter) has made a Warlord for Apoc or PS use is because at that point, the titan would BE the table, thus defeating the entire purpose. Though it would be cool to have a battle on it's 'shoulders', and then to integrate other tables into a single ground battle representing what's happening around the titan, and having it's attacks randomly placed every few turns by a ref on one of the boards, alternating now and then between each.

Otherwise, rent out a hockey arena and drain all the ice out of it, because that's about the space you'd need to properly play one made to scale.

I think that people overestimate a titan's size to be waaay larger than it would be. For instance, a warlord (in my opinion) would be ~3 feet tall, because I'm going by the Epic scale:

A Reaver titan is 16" high in 40k scale, so, because the head of the Warlord is about shoulder-height on the Reaver, I think that a Warlord titan would be roughly 2.5 to 3 feet tall.

PS: Here is a link to a 40k-scale Imperator titan: http://www.belloflostsouls.net/2009/02/showcase-40k-scale-imperator-titan.html

Re:Imperial Class Titans.

The thing is - Titan height brackets for each class are quite wide. That scaled Imperator would be considered to be at the mid to minimum of that bracket. Plus, again, you'd have to understate their size somewhat to fit one on a table. You just couldn't do it at the maximum extent of the Imperator bracket and still have it fully represented on the board. Not without an engineering degree, anyway

I think it was the 3rd ed Rulebook that had a picture of a max-bracket Imperator's foot, and there were literally thousands of Guardsmen pouring out of it in a sea of squishy. So that scaled one wouldn't be anywhere close to the maximum scale if that illustration has anything to say

Ive done alot of looking into the size and scaling foe one of these models, and there not nearly as large as your implying there 30'' for the smallist and 39'' for the bigist, each foot is between 5'' and 7'' in diameter and the chest is between 10'' and 14'' wide so it is a very large model that once on the table will be as tall as a person but its not as impossible as your implying, infact theres 2 posts on this thred contaning links with pics of the titans on a gw table, and btw everyone thank you for the picsthey look great!

Yes, like I said your measurement would work, though each Titan Class has a height range of around an additional 50 feet over a previous class (+/- from that) so while 35.5 would be enough to represent an Imperator Titan, given the range of heights in that class, that wouldn't be -the- measurement for one. They can still be larger or smaller, as was displayed by the smaller Warlord Titan from Armourcast that Plantuan posted (Which by the way never really struck my fancy in terms of the Sculpt). As for the max height of one, I'm not entirely sure what the largest are. I think I remember Emperors topping out at 200/250 feet. Somewhere around there.

A lot of these arguments are basing their facts on GW's complete inability to measure things correctly; for instance a Rhino should be a fair bit large in order to accomodate 11 space marines (including driver) engines, armour etc. An Imperator should be large enough for it's lower legs to contain 52 Skitarii or Guardsmen plus machinery and armour. I can't be bothered to do the maths, but I'm fairly sure that in order to fit all that the feet would need to be about 12" wide at the base giving it something like a 48" width from each of its outer toes.

Manchu wrote:I think the castles on their backs are what make them look cartoonish. GW could stand to give them a retcon design overhaul.

Im not sure if its the fact they are castles, or just the way the castles look. I dont think it needs to be completely retconned, just made a bit more realistic looking (in as much as something like a titan *can* be realistic), the castles need to be more in scale for the thing, & the legs need looking at, theres no way its skinny little thighs could support the torso.

As for the scale thing, I remember reading in Mechanicum that it is (I think) 43 metres tall. That however, cant be right, because that would make it about 4 times the height of a knight (9 metres), which seems very small, given that warhounds are significantly larger than knights.

Judging by the apocalypse datasheet, its approximately 4 times the height of a warhound. I consider this to be the correct size for a 40k scale imperator, (much like all the 40k vehicles are undersized). A 'trusecale' Imperator would be significantly larger of course.
