IG (even though in special missions), I decided that my current list REALLY wasn't working: it looked good on paper, but it didn't have enough mobility to charge anything, or even get near to shoot melta guns! So heres my "new" and improved 1000 point list! please critique!


HQ
rune priest, runic armor, chooser of the slain, meltabombs- 135

Troops:
10 grey hunters, 2 meltaguns, Motw, wolf standard, rhino- 215
10 grey hunters, 2 melta guns, Motw, wolf standard, rhino - 215
7 grey hunters, meltagun, Motw, wolf standard, rhino- 185- more effective in a razorback? wihtout 2 men (30 pts) and wolf standard (10 points) add 5 for razorback (have saved 35 points) and give it a lascannon? (back up again to 1000)

Heavy support:
vindicator, siege shield- 125
6 long fangs, 5 rocket launchers: 140 pts
Total: 1000

I posted a slightly differrent version earlier, but messed up.

So here's what I did: dropped the droppoding dread, because although he's great, he doesn't accomplish much, and gets zapped soon after landing, not having enough movement. the scouts were dropped because they were nice as a suicide unit, but often didn't quite kill their taget, which ran away and then shot them. Having dropped them, i had to drop the now illegal WG as well. The long fangs are because I love their background, and they are beastly! Five rocket launchers, kachow!

Also, I'm looking to go up to 1500 points, as that's what most guys in my area play. Rune Priest w/term armor/CotS

3 x 10 man GH squads w/2xmelta/MoW/Rhino

1 x 6 man LF squad w/5ml's

1 x 5 man LF squad w/4ml's

1000 even

As far as going up to 1500pts, I don't think you need a special character.

I consulted my FLGS, and I got some good feedback. one suggestion was to take out the vindicator, as it will be too much of a target, but with storm caller, I tried to negate that. @ matyr: thanks! It's nice to hear that, but I honestly don't know how solid this list is, having not played it yet...

@ Gutrip: It's an Idea to consider. I f I do drop the vindi, I'll probably take a TLLC razroback for the LF, or a whirlwind for anti swarm.

As it is, I've got mostly meltaguns, perhaps some plasma is reccomended?

Update: well, I finally got a rhino, the first of three needed. While at my FLGS, I looked at the selection, and something caught my eye- a Njal stromcaller model. Is it worth dropping the vindi and something else, a GH perhaps, to buy him?

Also, I really like the vindi, but it's short range worries me- as someone pointed out, the long fangs are the only unit that can "reach out and torch someone." However, the vindi is great because of it's dual Anti Tank and anti infantry role, plus it can blast down buildings like no one's buisness.

Should I replace it? a Gh squad in droppod has been suggested, but what else?
What say you all on this?
