Toxicity of GW's new Finecast Resin?

My apologies for opening ANOTHER Finecast thread, but I can't find a firm answer (or even many references to this) question anywhere else. If the Mods feel the need to shut this down/fold it into another thread, so be it, but I really want a firm answer, if anyone is in a position to provide it.

I know that the resin that FW and other companies use is toxic if inhaled, CARCINOGENIC even, necessitating a mask and extreme care when sanding etc. But what about this new Finecast stuff? They keep referring to it as "resin" which makes me worry that it might have similar dangers. I myself am already chemically sensitive (have to wear a 3M full-face chemical filter mask just to glue or prime my models) and, my wife is pregnant, so naturally I am far more concerned than I normally am.

Can anyone confirm or deny that the new materials are safe for working with in a household? (normal modeling use - I'm not snorting lines of plastic/metal/resin particles, but my work table is in the room I sleep in.

I would be very grateful if someone can help me figure out an answer to this question. Thanks in advance Dakka community!

-C6

It was stated by GW that they submitted the material for regulations and it came back with no warnings that had to be labeled.

It's a resin/plastic composite so that is why it is safer than true resin.

Toxicity of GW's new Finecast Resin?

From their FB account/ the finecast thread:

Games Workshop: Also, chaps, we've spotted the odd comment about the safety of the resin. As with all our products, this has been vigorously checked. There are currently many formulations of resin used across the world. The resin material we are using for Citadel Finecast models has undergone testing by a leading international toy safety testing agency. They identified no risks to health and recommend no special precautions.

Toxicity of GW's new Finecast Resin?

Again a question asked on the forum could have been answered quicker and better by going to the manufacturer's website. Does anyone on the forum ever actually go to the GW website? It would often save time over asking a question here and provide a more reliable answer than waiting for total strangers to reply with what may or may not be accurate information.

GW addressed this question yesterday at:
http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/content/blogPost.jsp?aId=16700019a

Also note that there is already a thread for this topic at:
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/369106.page

Same thing was said that about asbestos.

Can't accuse me of flaming cos asbestos is non flammable!

Seriously, are they suggesting there would be no problems inhaling any dust from sanding? There may not be, just wondering. Personally I would still take the same precautions to prevent chest problems.
