A Heavy Weapons Squad with 3 non twin-linked lascannons, is only 25pts less than a Vendetta. That 25pts turns the squad into a fast skimmer with extra armor, transport capacity, as well as twin-links all of the weapons.

Depends on the Infantry you're shooting at TBH.

I've found that 3+ armor saves are quite ridiculous and fire Vendettas at marines quite commonly.

If you drop the 2 missiles for Rocket pods, which are defensive you could. And honestly 2 one shot missiles fire at BS3 is pretty terrible.

Vendetta is only better against MEQ in the open, given how easy cover saves come by the two are pretty even on that account.

AT power is invaluable. It is also really easy to convert, especially with the amount of spare lascannons that heavy weapon kits provide. I used 4 lascannons under the wings and a dreadnought arm next to the cockpit. People sometimes mistake it for a forgeworld kit, but mine was free with stuff I had. Not £15 plus p+p.

I usually outflank mine, to get those juicy rear armour shots. An astropath helps to get it in early and on target. It also means that you can judge where it is needed better than having it on the board at the start, and it can have a turn of fire before it gets shot at.

As for the contents, I view the transport capacity as an added bonus. It is really a gunship, not a transport. A cheap SWS from a platoon can ride along inside, armed with 3 flamers.
