My biggest concern is my elites slot. Is the 300 point Sternquard squad worth it? Would some assault termies be better?

I have 50 points with nothing better to do them, that i why i chose it. It can be easily hidden in terain and possibly thereaten a big vehicle.

GoI librarian, they don't need to walk around much. I use the gate/sternguard combo a lot, not even bothering to buy them a rhino.

They are expensive, and just as fragile as tac marines. But they can put out the hurt. I run very light on the combis to keep the points down. Try to make sure the only thing that can get a clean LOS on them is the unit they are about to blow apart. DT. This has been an issue in some games, particuarly vs. eldar. Having an even chance of blowing my own brains out rathen then getting GoI off made for a lot walking.

The pod lets them get to the fight first turn, no muss, no fuss. Rhinos would also help with mobility, and keep small arms fire off the sternguard until you disembark. If you have the spare points, take one. True, but do i need more troops? I already have 3 ful tac squads for 1750 pts games..

3 full tac squads are not as durable as you would like to think.
