I might dump fx8350 and get a phenom ii x4/x6 965 be or intel i5 2500k. Note that black edition is a must because overcloking is really usefull with phenoms. Don't worry overclocking is super duper easy (amd has factory overclocked version but why pay for something when you can get it free) even my sister could do it and she can barely boot her pc up. Yes, spend £1000 pound on a computer with a TB hard drive which can quite easily be beaten by a £700 pound system with better support and better games.

Macs are only useful for media editing, and that's without counting PCs with good quality software for it.
