I might dump fx8350 and get a phenom ii x4/x6 965 be or intel i5 2500k. I've heard the newer amds are not that great while being pretty expensive. phenom i x4 (black edition) has the best bang for buck while intel provides all the performance you could ever need.

Note that black edition is a must because overcloking is really usefull with phenoms. Don't worry overclocking is super duper easy (amd has factory overclocked version but why pay for something when you can get it free) even my sister could do it and she can barely boot her pc up. Newer amd chips are already BE (the one op suggested) and so are intel ones.

Yes, spend £1000 pound on a computer with a TB hard drive which can quite easily be beaten by a £700 pound system with better support and better games.
Macs are only useful for media editing, and that's without counting PCs with good quality software for it.

He isn't saying they are bad, just that the performance isnt worth the boosted price. The processor you picked is twice the price of the Phenom, but only slightly better. Heres the side by side comparable

I personally am pretty disinclined to go with ATI video cards - I'm pretty strictly EVGA Nvidia. But, if you're down with AMD, I don't see anything wrong with that being a solid budget gaming build.

I have used both nvidia and ati and imo nvidia is better simply because the drivers are easier. My current desktop pc has myriad of problems all caused by video card drivers. CCC is bugged, crossfire is bugged and eyefinity is bugged. Only good thing with bugged crossfire is it actually unbugged Mount & Blade.
