Unfortunatley it does happen. GW is constantly recruiting "On Call Managers" in the areas of a store(s) to assist in cases like this.

GW goes even as far to fly "On Call Managers" to an area if, IF the store is going to be closed for an extended time due to prolonged illness or vacation, etc. "On Call Managers" are not going away and are vital for fullfilling this role or taking over if a a manger is fired or moves onto a new career.

"On Call Managers" = relief manager btw, for those that might want to get silly and such.

Oh and regards to annual price increse...thats going away for now. It's funny because a guy at my local GW did this.

He was big into games of all kinds, yet worked at GW. On his days off he'd be at the local FLGS playing anything and everything - CCGs, other wargames, even board games. I saw him one day in there playing Connect 5 with a few people. Dude loves games. He'd even help out new 40k players - he doesn't seem to hold a grudge at all. A game is a game, and he's super friendly and just shoots the gak all the time.

Then one day I walked into the FLGS, and he's wearing that stores uniform. He left GW to work there. Still plays everything, including GW stuff.
