Kitbashing Necron Overlord

I need some suggestions on kitbashing a Necron Overlord. I am a new Necron player and would like to have a model that is uniquely my own. I would like to avoid buying the finecast model but i will probably be buying the Command Barge so i can use that overlord. Any idea's would be greatly appreciated.

The best place to look would probably be the lychguard/praetorian box, as those bits are the more ornate ones in the range (and you have a tonne of spares from building one squad or the other). Everything else is really too bland, so the one from the CCB+ lychguard bits would be the best option.

I think if you're trying to make the model your own, one thing to focus on would be the posing. Depending on how much effort you're willing to put in, Necrons are almost infinitely re-posable, as the joints are easily accessible and can even be reversed without looking too odd. This does take a lot of skill and patience (and I'd seriously suggest trying it on a few spare warrior bits before committing to the OL build), but can give some very unique and dynamic results.

If you're going for the Lychguard kitbash, I'd have to disagree with the above idea that they're very posable. In fact it's quite the opposite, you're stuck with the 5 poses given on the box, which have to be put together pretty precisely otherwise it won't fit correctly.

Here's a picture of the Lycheguard legs with that particular lord "cape" bit. The two guys in the background just use the regular standing lord legs.

The bottom picture is a lord pointing with the staff, to angle it a bit there is a small snib on the ball joint that should be cut off. At least I think there is a small snib on the shoulder ball joint. Also the lycheguard kit comes with a variety of loin cloth type pieces that can be used to replicate the look of the lord that comes with the CCB.
