Walkers move like infantry, so can they get up to the upper floors of ruins?

What about walkers that ignore terrain, like the Maulerfiend?

Walkers climbing ruins

Funny you should ask this. In the thread just below you commented in, the rule i quoted about who can go in the upper levels of ruins should be a hint, but the next sentence of page 98 is
"Other units may only move on the
ground levelof the ruin"

With an addendum at the bottom of the page that monstrous creatures and walkers may be allowed to enter "particularly sturdy ruins"

That's actually what made me think about it. The quote said "infantry" and I've always played it that they CAN, because they "move like infantry", but I've never really asked how other people play it or whether it's based purely on unit type and not on movement method.

I did a search on the forums and noticed it had never been asked before.

The last line pretty much explains it though. Walkers and monstrous creatures cannot enter upper levels of ruins unless:
a) they are jump or jet pack units (like riptide), or
b) the players agree that they can enter particularly sturdy ruins.

Walkers climbing ruins

Question arises more often due to assaulting units in ruins though. The assault rules for ruins basically say if you can't place your charging models there it's fine, they just attack from the floor below.

I'm irritated a bit by "rulings" like this though - I of course would consider the ruins sturdy because I'm trying to charge units in them, and they will of course consider them dilapidated because they want to be safe from being charged by walkers.

Oh well, dice off I guess.

Re:Walkers climbing ruins

If I were playing with or against a maulerfiend, I would make it clear that the maulerfiend should be able to scale any ruin. I would also make it clear that if the ruin looks unable to support the maulerfiend's weight, doing so will collapse the ruin into area cover after a pinning and dangerous terrain test. Pinning probably won't happen since at that point the maulerfiend will most likely be in combat, but hey, maybe there would be more than one unit or something.
