Otherwise, Deus Ex Machina given by the Chaos Gods, presumably; or maybe the influence of Chaos would just mean that all warp travel would be performed in the manner in which servants of Chaos in 40k currently go about it.

Sorcerers are capable of navigating the Warp without benefit of the beacon.

Also, the traitors didn't really have much of a plan. Horus' entire motivation was "they won't build statues of me, so let the galaxy burn", nothing more, nothing less. Lorgar just wanted everyone to embrace the voices in his head, so being randomly sodomized and eaten by daemons while traveling would be seen as a blessing. The Warp is apart from the Chaos Gods. They are of it, it is not of them....
