Sort of similar but like 2 weeks ago my entire company except for me got let out of work at noon because of a big snow storm. They all got payed for 8 hours while only working 6. I however had to work 8.5 hours and shut the entire shop down by myself while still only getting payed for 8.5 hours. You are correct the world is a cruel place sometime lol.
