I had an idea in my head for a city-style base, using some pieces of the GW buildings (basilica, munitorum, etc), and some other scenery such as bricks and slate pieces.

I'm wondering though, can the slate and ceramic be primed and then painted? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Only issue would be trying to paint something smooth (like ceramic with a glaze) even then just rough it up with some sand paper and spray/paint away!
