Narric's Fandex Thread: Adepta Sororitas

Posting some of my workmfor my current Feral Orks House Rule Codex. It includes aspects and options from the old Feral Orks list from Chapter Approved 2004, 4th Ed Orks, and 7th Ed Orcs & Goblins Army Book.

Seems some code from Second Sphere doesn't play well with the local Dakka Code This will be presented a little defferently to how I orinigally coded it, so some things may look weird

Feral Orks Psychic Powers
Primaris Power = The Waaagh! (1 Warp Charge) – This is a Blessing that targets the Psyker and his unit. They are treated to be under the effects of the Waaagh! special rule until the start of the following friendly Feral Ork turn. This is not limited by whether or not the Feral Ork army has called a Waaagh! or not.

1. = Gaze of Mork (1 Warp Charge) - This is a Witchfire psychic power with the following profile:
Range: 24" Str: 4 AP: - Type: Assault D6

2. = 'Eadbutt (1 Warp Charge) - This is a Malediction Psychic Power. Select a single enemy model with the Character unit type within 24” and within line of sight to the Psyker. If the enemy Deny the Witch roll fails, the enemy character suffers a single Str5 AP2 hit.

3. = Mork's strategy (1 Warp Charge) - This is a Blessing Psychic Power. Select a single friendly Ork unit that is within 18” of the Psyker. The selected unit gains a single special rule until the start of the next friendly Feral Ork turn. No unit may be targeted by Mork’s Strategy more than once per player turn. The special rule is randomly generated from the table below:
D6 - Result
1 - Mork gives the Orks some pointers on how to fight the foe.
The target unit gains the Counter-Attack special rule
2 - Mork wants to mess with the enemy stategists for a while
The target unit gains the Hit & Run
3 - And Mork spoke unto the Ork "See those bushes over ther? Yeah, they're easier to get through than that razor wire."
The target unit gains the Move through Cover special rule
4 - Mork has suddenly taken a particular dislike to the enemy Psykers, or at least he thinks there are enemy psykers to dislike.....
The target unit gains the Adamantium Will special rule
5 - "Before you start chopping, pick up some dirt and throw it in their face." - Sage Words of Mork.
The target unit gains the Blind special rule on close combat attacks
6 - Mork whispers dark truths to the Orks, secrets he knows they'll forget all too soon.
The target unit gains the And They Shall Know No Fear special rule

4. = Bash 'Em Ladz (1 Warp Charge) - This is a Blessing Psychic Power. Select a single friendly Ork unit that is locked in close combat within 18” of the Psyker. The selected unit doubles their Initiative (after modifiers) until the start of the next friendly Feral Ork turn.

5. = Fists of Gork (1 Warp Charge) - This is a Malediction Psychic Power. Select a single enemy unit or model within 18” and within line of sight to the Psyker. If the enemy Deny the Witch roll fails each model in the unit is hit on a 4+, with successful hits inflicting a Str4 AP- wound.

6. = Gork's Warpath (2 Warp Charge) - This is a Malediction Psychic Power. Select a single enemy unit or model within 18” and within line of sight to the Psyker. If the enemy Deny the Witch roll fails each model in the unit is struck a Str4 AP- hit. After the unit has made its saves, the Feral Ork player rolls a Scatter dice. If it rolls a scatter, draw a line from the center of the first selected unit in the direction the arrow points. The closest unit to the line and to the first target unit suffers a Str4 AP- hit for each model in the unit. If the scatter dice rolls a direct hit, the Psychic power stops. Gork’s Warpath may only be used once per Feral Ork turn.

Mork's Strategy is 100% me, so I won't be surprised if its OP

I also made a Character

Boarboss Badgore 180 Points

WS BS S T W I A Ld Sv
6 4 5 6 5 4 5 10 3+

Composition:
1 Boarboss Badgore (Unique)

Unit Type:
Cavalry (Character)

Special Rules:
- Independant character
- Furious Charge
- Mob Rule
- Waaagh!
- Crunchtusk's Tusks
- The Cyboar Horde

Wargear:
- Waaagh! Cleava
- Big Shoota
- Warpainted Shield
- Old Crunchtusk

Warpainted Shield - This is a "common" piece of wargear
A model with a Warpainted Shield gains 4+ Invulnerable save in close combat, and a 4+ Cover Save against ranged attacks.

Old Crunchtusk
Old Crunchtusk is a Cyboar as old as Badgore himself. Crunchtusk had once been comparable to a new-fangled “Super Cyboar” but now is more of a reliable steed.
Old Crunchtusk makes Badgore unit type Cavalry (Character), and confers a +1 boost to his toughness (already included in his profile), and a 3+ Armour save. Unlike most Cyboars, Old Crunchtusk also confers the Move through cover special rule.

Crunchtusk's Tusks
Crunchtusk has gained a bit of an inferiority complex against any machine or creature larger than him. Badgore hasn’t exactly made things better by strapping jagged chunks of metal and blades to Cruchtusk’s tusks and armour.
When in combat against Monstrous Creatures or Vehicles, Badgore has the Fleshbane and Armourbane special rules respectively.

The Cyboar Horde
If Boarboss Badgore is your Warlord, you may take up to two Cyboarboy Mobs as Troops choices. They do not count towards compulsory choices.

I'll see about posting up the full house rule codex when its finished ^_^

Narric's Fandex Thread: Grey Knights and Feral Orks

Forgot I actually started a thread for this kind of thing. I'm adding some new content, so I hope I won't get in trouble for thread Necromancy.
Narric's Fandex Thread: Adepta Sororitas

Hooah, another Sisters homebrewer. Those who are about to get Squatted salute you!

My work-in-progress is in my sig, and I'd love your comments. Here're mine on your work, in no particular order:

1. Adeptus Arbites
I love the Arbites and once thought of including them in my Sisters fandex myself. Have you seen Matt Forish's all-Arbites fandex?
Your Arbites Veterans are WS:3 BS:4 A:2. That seems weird to me. If they're so awesome in close combat -- remember A:2 is rare for non-characters! -- then why aren't they WS:4 instead?
My own (not yet posted) draft Arbites are WS:4 BS:3 Ld:8, otherwise baseline human stats. But the idea of Arbites being better at melee than shooting seems to be my particular mania....

2. Acts of Faith
I'd like to go back to a Faith Points system myself -- though I'd like to have both a unique Act for each unit, to add character, and a list available army-wide. (See my Book of Acts wargear here[/url).
The idea of generating Faith Points when you pass a Ld test is awesome, though potentially abusable. Tracking points unit-by-unit looks tricky, though. And why no Acts on turn 1?

3. Order Traits & Special Characters
Another idea I love (and [url=http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/30/570984.page#6420812]have tried myself). I'm not sure about having them replace the Warlord Trait, especially since they give special rules or FOC changes not comparable to the existing (rather modest) Warlord Traits in the rules. And I'd like some fluff to go with the tantalizing rules for the special characters you've come up with!

Miscellaneous:
The Psy-shock rules for the Condemnor weapons are written the same way as the original Sisters' digidex, which unfortunately is ambiguous about what happens to a unit containing a single Psyker.
Alternative ammo for Exorcists: Yes please! (Here's my take). I don't see why the "Sanctorum" variant counts as an upgrade, though: On average you get fewer shots than a 1D6 roll (3 instead of 3.5) and your AP is 3 instead of 1 (on the krak warhead), unless that's a typo.
Priest Julio: Does he take an Elite slot? I suspect you want him not to take up a FOC slot; as written, though, he does.
Death Cult Assassins with three wounds: Holy Feth.
Retribution Batteries: lascannons and plasma cannons seem out of character for Sisters.

Overall, good stuff. I look forward to seeing more.

Re:Narric's Fandex Thread: Adepta Sororitas

I'm just gonna say up front that its a little weird you're making repeated comparrisons to your own Fandex work over an official codex. I will make time to check it out, but I repectfully ask you don't use it as a point of reference in future. I'm not saying this to be offensive, though don't hesitate to say if I've overstepped a line.

Adeptus Arbites
I chose to go with a more shooty roll, becuase I started with a Imperial guard Veteran Squad, and built upon in what my ideas of a real life SWAT unit (or similar) would be like in the 41st millenium.
I'm not sure what you mean about two attack not being common amongst Non-characters. Technically speaking any unit bulk infantry with Pistol and CCW units wargear have two attacks basic. Ogryn are technically not characters, yet come with three attacksbasic (5th ed Guard). Tau XV8 and XV25 Battlesuits come with two attacks basic also.
Looking over my 4th Drat again, I notice that only the Arbites Command unit have two Attacks basic. In my mind this is ue to the unit being made of Veterans, who would have most likely face gruling close combat situations with madmen and criminals to a much higher rate than the standard Guardsmen. Considering their options, it also allows the Arbites Player the option for an Assaulty HQ that isn't a Adepta Sororitas Character.

Acts of Faith
In my personal opinion, the single act of faith ability per unitwas ridiculously restrictive, and makes the unit highly predictable, and to an extent robs it of true versatility. It also makes the gross assumption that a Sister trained for a particular role in the army will only ever feel the emperor' guiding hand in a very specific way. Using both a Unit specific AoF and an Army-wide list could easily make the army confusing.
I agree that generating FPs during the course of a battle can potentially be abusable, but if that is what someone wants to use a Fandex made for fun for, well thats is unfortunately not somethigI can really restrict. Ican do my best to reduce the damage, but a bomb still leaves blastmarks.
I dissallowed AoFs to be used on turn one due to wanting to add some sort of balance. To my memory, Orks are not Able toactivate a Waagh! on Turn one. Any army that relies on Deep Striking has limited options for Turn 1 DS'ing. With the right list without that restriction, it could very well be possible for an experienced player to wipe out half an opponents deployed army turn one.

Order Traits
I felt having an Order Trait in addition to a Warlord trait felt too much like a Space Marine knock off, and a bit lazy to create. By making the Order Traits completely overide the Warlord Trait, I hope that players will put genuine thought into which one they will use. I have already had feedback that the "Order of the Ardent Shroud" Trait alongside a unit filled with Heavy bolters in Area Terrain was uite an effective tactic with my previous version. Options have since been tweaked to reduce that OP-ness
Order Traits were inspired by the official fluff giving for the Orders of the same name. The Characters who have them aren't particularly the ones responsible for these attributes, but they do emobody them. When it comes to writing Fluff, there would hopefully be a nice chunk dedicated to the Order Traits, with the Characters having a more personally backstroy that depicts them solely.

Special characters
The Special Characters were in a way an extension of the Order Traits. Their wargear was chosen more to try and add a uniqueness to them. As and when I get round to some backstory for them I hope to improve the various characters, both from a narrative pov, and a gameplay pov.

Misc
I'll have to lookup what the official Errata says on the Condemnor weapons.

The upgrade to the Sanctorum is based upon the two different models for it, with the same name for the Forge World model. In my mind, the Vanilla Exorcist makes sense to have D6, as its "fired" by a person playing an organ. It could easily be explained as them hitting the right keys to a loaded missile chamber. The Sanctorum is basically a Sororitas Whirlwind, but uses their own wargear. The addition of the Flakk Missiles is based upon the assumption that someone is religious about including Fliers in their List, and sisters have very fue options to target Vehicles as is, let alone Flyers. The number of shots for the Sanctorum felt like a sensible number, and wasn't better nor truly worse than the Vanilla Exorcist Launcher. the reduced AP is somewhat a trade-off for a reliable shot count. It is not a Typo.

Priest Julio was a character I added becuase, again from a feeling, I felt that a priest with a flamer suited the Original "Witch Hunters" backdrop to the Adepta Sororitas, and is intended as a homeage to that bygone era when the Sisters could have had great things done with them (in a non-sexual sense).

Yes, I gave DCAs three wounds. Considering the addition of Overwatch, a single wouned independant model has no place trying to assault anyone, let alone have the staying power to actually, you know, assassinate anyone these days. If felt like a needed upgrde, and alongside the ability to take ten of them, I feel like those points are now more tempting to spend.

Retribution Batteries are an addition made to give Sisters more heavy hitting firepower, whilst not entirely removing the need for Retributor sqauds. Squads in my mind are the advancers, who go forth and bring righteous death to the heretics and enemies of the emperium. The batteries are the armies stationary covering fire, and allow for a higher number of weapons to be brought. You may have also missed the Retributor Sister Oculus, who is in essence a Retributor Sister with access to targeting systems highly useful to long distance weaponry. For a breif time I included the Sister Oculus into the normal Retributor squad, but it felt like it robbed from the new Retributor Batteries. Another option I was going to include was Missile Launchers, but this truly did feel out of place for sisters, and I agree the Lascannons and Plasma Cannonsare already stretching it.

Hopefully I've answered questions you may have, though of course correct me or keep asking if I haven't

Narric's Fandex Thread: Adepta Sororitas

Thanks. I'll say that one kind of missile launcher does feel very appropriate for Sisters, namely the Exorcist, so you could try an Artillery version of the Exorcist or cut-down Exorcist as Heavy weapon.

I do agree Death Cult Assassins should actually be able to assassinate people, which is not how they're currently written.

And I agree each Sister should have access to multiple Acts of Faith. I just like each unit having a unique Act in addition to give character.

I'm always excited to see other folks' Sororitas homebrew units, but I understand if you're not as eager to compare ideas.

Narric's Fandex Thread: Adepta Sororitas

I'm open to comparing ideas for Fandexi, but that I also like having official content to compare against in equal measure.
I tried checking out your stuff, but it seems to be in multiple threads. Do you have a "Master" thread with links to all the others, or a compilled PDF document for me to download and look over?

For DCA I could look into injecting some elements from the Deathmarks.

Not sure if I like the idea of an Artillary unit for Sisters, as now that woud take over what the Ret-Batteries are intended for. I could look into it again.

Same with the Unit Unique AoF.

Narric's Fandex Thread: Adepta Sororitas

I'm working on a single document, but right now my stuff is all over in multiple threads and in some cases multiple versions. My sig has the most recent and my first reply to you has some others that might be relevant to your units. It seems much easier to get useful comments on a small number of related units at a time, rather than trying to post the whole dex at once, which can be overwhelming: My current count is 28 new units, and that's not including a bunch of others which I posted and got comment on but ultimately seemed not good enough.

Keeping Army List entries on a single page (in my opinion) looks more professional and is easier and quicker to read
But with respect, would you kindly make your own thread? I understand I sound selfish, but this thread is also for other Codexi I have/may produce(d) so its just simplifies things if the Fandexi posted are predominantly from me
